Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two promising 2-year-olds by Wootton Bassett (GB) and Cosmic Force make their debuts at Ballarat and Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Lumination, 2-year-old filly (Wootton Bassett (GB) x Glows {Canny Lad})

The Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained 2-year-old filly Lumination (Wootton Bassett {GB}) makes her debut at Ballarat on Sunday after showing some good talent at the jump-outs at Cranbourne, including a tidy win on June 15 over 800 metres on a heavy track.

Lumination is out of the Listed winning Canny Lad mare Glows. She has already produced five winners, with the best of them being the Group 2 and Group 3-winning filly Thermosphere (Exosphere).

Lumination was purchased by Busuttin Racing for $240,000 from the Aristia Park draft at the 2025 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Calisto Comet was purchased for $40,000 by Paul Willetts and Robert Heathcote from the Valiant Stud draft at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale Book 2.

Looking Back:

Apex Predator (Tiger Of Malay) - Led all the way to score in style at Doomben.

Defensemen (Wootton Bassett {GB}) - Ran second at Randwick, only being beaten a nose, a win looks close for this well-bred colt.

Angels Fury (Harry Angel {Ire}) - Was an impressive and brave winner at Caulfield.
