We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Leadership Team.
This is a rare opportunity for a strategic finance leader who enjoys balancing high-level commercial leadership with operational involvement. You’ll provide trusted financial advice to the Board, Executive Leadership Team and Management, while leading a function responsible for financial management, treasury, client finance, governance, compliance and commercial decision-making.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with Managers, the Executive Leadership team and the Board, the CFO will be responsible for the overall financial leadership of the organisation.
This is far more than a traditional finance role. You’ll influence business strategy, drive commercial performance, oversee significant client finance and lending activities, manage organisational risk, and ensure robust governance across a diverse and dynamic business.
Leading a capable finance team, you’ll foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and collaboration while ensuring the business remains financially strong and positioned for future growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
Partner with the Board and Executive Leadership Team to provide strategic financial advice and commercial insight.
Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, scenario modelling and capital management.
Develop financial strategies that support sustainable business growth and operational excellence.
Provide meaningful financial analysis to support major business decisions and investment opportunities.
Financial Management & Governance
Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and Board reporting.
Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
Maintain strong internal controls, governance frameworks and financial policies.
Manage treasury, cash flow, banking facilities, foreign exchange and investment activities.
Oversee taxation, statutory reporting and external audit processes.
Commercial Finance & Risk
Oversee client lending, credit management and debtor recovery activities.
Manage PPSR registrations, financing arrangements and commercial recovery strategies.
Lead financial risk management across the organisation.
Support major commercial initiatives through financial modelling and investment analysis.
Compliance & Corporate Services
Ensure compliance with all taxation, statutory and regulatory obligations.
Oversee the organisation’s AML/CTF compliance framework and AUSTRAC obligations.
Manage corporate insurance, intellectual property administration and key external professional relationships.
Lead finance systems, technology improvements and business process optimisation.
Leadership
Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
Build a culture focused on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
Work closely with operational leaders to improve financial performance and business outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
An experienced senior finance executive who combines strong commercial judgement with exceptional leadership capability.You enjoy partnering with senior leaders, influencing business decisions and building trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation. You’re equally comfortable presenting to a Board as you are rolling up your sleeves during major operational periods.
You’ll bring:
Extensive senior financial leadership experience, ideally as a CFO, Finance Director or Senior Finance Executive.
CPA or CA qualification (essential).
Demonstrated experience leading budgeting, forecasting, treasury and financial reporting.
Strong commercial acumen with proven experience providing strategic advice to executive leadership and Boards.
Experience managing financial risk, governance and compliance in a complex business environment.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and build a high-performing team.
Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving capability.
A proactive, hands-on approach with the flexibility to support a dynamic, event-driven business.
Experience within agribusiness, bloodstock, racing, livestock, events or similarly complex commercial industries will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
Please note: This role requires flexibility to work extended hours during major sales and event periods, fortnightly weekend work and interstate travel throughout the year.
