Three well-bred early season 3-year-olds by Home Affairs, Snitzel and Lucky Vega (Ire) chase maiden success across Australia on Wednesday.

Endeavour, 3-year-old colt (Home Affairs x Sweet Sister {Snitzel})
The Chris Waller-trained Endeavour (Home Affairs) makes his debut at Canterbury on Wednesday on the back of two trials at Rosehill last month.
The beautifully-bred son of Home Affairs is out of the unraced Snitzel mare Sweet Sister. She is very well-bred being a full-sister to the G1 Galaxy Handicap winner Sweet Idea (Snitzel) and the dual Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed stallion Showtime.

Sweet Sister has also proven herself at stud leaving four winners, including the Listed 2-year-old winner Supreme Idea (I Am Invincible).
Since producing Endeavour, Sweet Sister has left a 2-year-old colt by Home Affairs, a yearling colt by Wootton Bassett (GB) and is due to foal to Farnan in October.
Endeavour was purchased for $360,000 by Waller Racing and Mulcaster Bloodstock from the Coolmore Stud draft at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Leonessa, 3-year-old filly (Snitzel x Miss Leonidas {I Am Invincible})
The Chris Waller-trained Leonessa (Snitzel) makes her fourth start at Canterbury on Wednesday over 1200 metres.
Her form may not look great on paper, but she has been progressing nicely and has been an improver in each of her three starts, so she could surprise at good value.
Leonessa is the third foal out of the smart mare Miss Leonidas (I Am Invincible). She was a five-time winner and was successful in the G2 Caulfield Sprint Handicap and the Listed Bel Esprit Handicap. She was also classy enough to run second in the G1 Galaxy Handicap and the G1 AJ Moir Stakes.

This is also the extended family of the tough grey stayer Newport (Encosta De Lago), who was a nine-time winner and was successful in the G1 Metropolitan Handicap, G2 Brisbane Cup and the G3 Randwick City Stakes.
Unfortunately, Leonessa was Miss Leonidas last live-foal before she sadly died in November last year.
Leonessa was purchased by B2B Thoroughbreds for $725,000 from the Cressfield draft at the 2025 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

La Reina Vega, 3-year-old filly (Lucky Vega (Ire) x Northern Reign {Fastnet Rock})
The Grahame Begg-trained La Reina Vega (Lucky Vega {Ire}) looks a great chance to taste maiden success at Cranbourne on Wednesday in the hands of jockey Jordan Childs.
She ran a very good second on debut at Seymour on July 19 behind Dustee (Exceedance) where she was only just beaten and she looks a great chance of going one better here over 1400 metres.
La Reina Vega is the second-foal out of the Fastnet Rock mare Northern Reign who was a winner over 1700 metres.
Lucky Vega (Ire) | Standing at Yulong Stud
There is plenty of strong staying blood in the pedigree with La Reina Vega’s grandam Galivant (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) being a dual winner over 2200 metres and 2450 metres, and being a half-sister to the G1 Sydney Cup winner The Offer (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}).
This is also the family of the G3 Gunsynd Classic winner Cylinder Beach (NZ) (Showcasing {GB}) and the Listed Wayne Wilson Handicap winner Victory Eight (NZ) (Nadeem).
Northern Reign, in recent times has left a yearling filly by Diatonic (Jpn) and is due to foal to Diatonic again next month.
La Reina Vega was a value $10,000 purchase by Gary Mudgway Bloodstock from the Yulong draft at the 2024 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale.
Looking Back
Jourama (Frosted {USA}) - Was a touch disappointing running fourth at Bairnsdale.
Azzurri Queen (Blue Point {Ire}) - Ran a great race for second at Bairnsdale, unfortunately was done in the last stride.
