Inglis Digital: Group 1-placed Profoundly makes $360,000

Group 1-placed Profoundly tops the sale

With the 1% share in successful stallion Ole Kirk passing in with a $450,000 reserve, it was the 4-year-old mare Profoundly (Farnan) who finished on top of the Inglis Digital August Late Sale with a bid of $360,000 from Boomer Bloodstock’s Craig Rounsefell for client Peter Murray. Offered by Michael Freedman Racing on behalf of her owners, Profoundly was sold as a breeding prospect only after injuring a suspensory tendon in training.

“Peter is building a very strong, young, boutique broodmare band at Three Bridges and Profoundly fits the mould perfectly for what he is looking for,” Rounsefell said.

“We’ve already done plenty of work on a mating plan for her but we will make a final decision on which stallion she visits within the next week. We thought she was very fairly valued at $360,000, that’s about where we thought she would land and sometimes the cards fall your way and they certainly did today.”

Winner as a Brisbane juvenile at her second start, Profoundly returned at three to place three times in the spring. In the autumn, she won at Warwick Farm before running third in the G3 Kembla Grange Classic. She won the G3 Adrian Knox Stakes at her next start, and concluded her career with a brave second placing in the G1 Australian Oaks behind boom Kiwi filly Ohope Wins (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}) who had won the G1 New Zealand Oaks two starts prior.

Profoundly is a half-sister to G3 MRC Chairman’s Stakes winner Sebonack (Capitalist) who ran fourth in Daumier’s G1 Blue Diamond Stakes. Her dam, winning mare Profound Wisdom (Al Samer) is a half-sister to G2 Skyline Stakes winner and sire Santos, as well as Group 3 winner Melagrana (Fastnet Rock).

Eyes Of Blue shows that pedigree trumps race record

Coming in second place, both in the sale and at her second raceday start, was 4-year-old mare Eyes Of Blue (Snitzel) who was offered by her owners and bought by Reg Ryan for $235,000. Snitzel has a strong broodmare sire record with 56 stakes winners in that realm and seven Group 1 winners led by G1 Golden Slipper winner Mossfun (Mossman) and young stallions Private Life (Written Tycoon) and Celestial Legend (Dundeel {NZ}).

She will go to Ole Kirk, whose sire Written Tycoon has crossed well with Snitzel mares resulting in Group 1 winners Captured By Love, Private Life, and Velocious.

“I think she’s perfect for him (Ole Kirk). The pedigree is tremendous, it’s one of those families you’d like to get into if you want to be at the top end, that’s for sure, so I thought she was worth having a go at,” Ryan said.

“I basically had $200,000 on her, I thought I could get her for that but apparently I was wrong, somebody else had the same idea so I was pretty stretched at the end but thankfully I got the last bid in, which is the important one.

“Inglis Digital is pretty bloody straight forward, it’s easy to use, I’m an older bloke who hasn’t had much experience with digital stuff but now even I’ve got my head around Inglis Digital and it’s really easy.”

Eyes Of Blue is a full sister to G3 Bletchingly Stakes winner Bridal Waltz, who placed in the G1 Robert Sangster Stakes, and a half-sister to G3 Northwood Plume Stakes winner She Dances (Street Boss {USA}). This is the family of R.Listed Inglis Banner Stakes winners Bastille Babe and Ideas Man, both by Brazen Beau.

McWoody valued at $200,000

A 5% share in 4-year-old entire McWoody (Alabama Express) sold for $10,000, valuing him at $200,000. The share was bought by D Duncan. Winner of three of his seven starts, McWoody won on debut as an early 3-year-old before being asked to run in the G1 Victoria Derby at start number three.

Back in the autumn, he won twice including the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas, defeating Bootlegger (Too Darn Hot {GB}) who won the Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes last weekend.

Trained by John Symons and Sheila Laxon, he is set to enter pre-training for this season shortly.

Corboy thrilled with No Friends result

Two racehorses sold for $165,000, being Without Parallel (Time Test {GB}) and No Friends (Cool Aza Beel {NZ}). No Friends was sold by Polaris Bloodstock’s Adrian Corboy and was bought by R Chen.

“We picked him up for $25,000 as a yearling at Inglis Classic and sold him today for $165,000 after two starts, so it’s a good turnaround,” Corboy said. The 3-year-old colt was third on debut before winning at Seymour in July as a late 2-year-old.

“(Inglis Bloodstock Consultant) Sinead (Flannery) was great, she helps me out a lot, she’s very helpful and very supportive and always answers the phone and I couldn’t do it without her.”

Gollan Racing bought 5-year-old mare Without Parallel whose five wins include a last start victory in Brisbane for previous trainer Matthew Dunn. She won her first four in succession. Her dam, Special Asset (The Factor {USA}), is an unraced half-sister to Group 3 winner Tuscan Sling (Danehill Dancer {Ire}).
