Two promising types by Kermedec (NZ) and Farnan chase maiden success at Wyong on Sunday.

Definition, 3-year-old gelding (Kermadec (NZ) x Monogram {Medaglia D’Oro {USA})
The well-related Definition (Kermadec {NZ}) is set to make his second start for trainer Bjorn Baker on Sunday at Wyong. He disappointed when running last at Kembla Grange earlier this month, but since then has run a strong second at the Rosehill trials on August 21 behind The Wildling (Wild Ruler).
Kermadec (NZ) | Standing at Darley
Definition is a son of Darley Stud's Kermedec (NZ) and is the fourth foal from the Medaglia D’Oro (USA) mare Monogram. She was a five-time winner on the track and has already left the classy Character (Teofilo {Ire}) who has won the G2 Queensland Guineas and the G2 Tullooch Stakes among his six wins and the dual winner Crocodile (Ghaiyyath {Ire}).
Monogram is a half-sister to Tarquin (Hard Spun {USA}) who was a six-time winner including in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes.
Monogram, since producing Definition, has produced a yearling colt by Triple Time (Ire), and is due to foal to City Of Troy (USA) in late October.

The Thorncaster, 3-year-old rig (Farnan x Rosa's Magic {Sebring})
Trained by Ciaron Maher, The Thorncaster (Farnan) looks a good chance of featuring in the finish in a fresh state at Wyong on Friday over 1200 metres.
He ran a couple of tidy races in his first preparation, and signalled that a break has done him the world of good, with a strong trial win at Warwick Farm over 817 metres on August 18, his second trial this preparation.

The Thorncaster is a son of Rosa's Magic (Sebring), a winning daughter of G3 Merson Cooper Stakes winner Rosa's Joy (Rory's Jester) and a half-sister to stakes winner and stakes producer Rosa's Spur (Flying Spur).
Rosa's Spur has produced the dams and grandams of a number of stakes winners including dual Group 2 winner Pure Elation (I Am Invincible), Listed Twilight Glow Stakes winner Ruska Roma (Super Seth), and dual Group 3 winner Jennilala (Shalaa {Ire}).
Since producing The Thorncaster, Rosa's Magic has foaled a yearling filly by In The Congo and is due to foal to Farnan in late September.
Bennett Racing purchased The Thorncaster for $160,000 at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Bell River Thoroughbreds.

Southend (Palace Pier {GB}) - Disappointed running last in the G3 Up And Coming Stakes at Rosehill.
