Jimmy Recard inches closer to racing return
One of the more exciting 3-year-olds last spring, Jimmy Recard (I Am Invincible) hasn’t been seen on raceday for nearly a year, but the now 4-year-old entire approaches his resumption with a slick trial victory at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning.
Allowed to stride forward from the barriers under James McDonald, the Ciaron Maher trainee held his lead before letting down strongly in the final furlong to win by two and a quarter lengths over Viipuri (Russian Revolution).

The winner of the G3 Vain Stakes and third in the G3 HDF McNeil Stakes, Jimmy Recard hasn’t been seen since the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, where he finished seventh. A $350,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase for Bennett Racing and Ciaron Maher Bloodstock, his Group 3-performed dam Aquamosa (NZ) (Alamosa {NZ}) is closely related to Singapore Champion 3YO Sprinter Big Maverick (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}).
Bennett Racing also bought the most recent two foals from Aquamosa, fillies by Hellbent and I Am Invincible, at the same venue. Aquamosa had another Hellbent filly in 2025 before visiting I Am Invincible.
Top-priced Wild Ruler yearling wins maiden trial
The most expensive yearling from the first crop of Newgate Farm’s Wild Ruler, Freshman (NZ) took a step closer to debut with a sharp hit-out at Warwick Farm on Tuesday.
The 3-year-old colt, who is trained by Bryce Heys, was up with the pacemakers but had to rely on a late burst of speed to claim the heat from Devil Wings (So You Think {NZ}) by a head.

Ellerslie Lodge and Heys purchased Freshman for NZ$380,000 at last year’s New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale, where he was offered by Windsor Park Stud. He is the first foal of Listed winner Stay Smart (USA) (Stay Thirsty {USA}), one of three stakes winners for Graded winner Smart N Classy (USA) (Smart Strike {USA}), along with Valedictorian (USA) (Temple City {USA}) and He'spuregold (USA) (Vancouver).
Stay Smart has a 2-year-old colt and yearling filly by Profondo, and was served by Auguste Rodin (Ire) in 2025.
Regally bred Profit nears debut
Gary Portelli has patiently developed 3-year-old Capitalist colt Regal Profit, who moves closer to his debut after making moves in the home straight to run down the leader in a Warwick Farm trial.
Ironglint (NZ) (Savabeel) looked to be the runaway winner of the 816-metre heat from a long way out, but Regal Profit and eventual runner-up Swagger (Tagaloa) wore him down, before the former pulled ahead at the line to win by a short head.

A $100,000 Gold Coast purchase for his trainer, Regal Profit is the first foal to race for Still Reigning (Time For War), a full sister to Time To Reign and a half to G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner She Will Reign (Manhattan Rain). Still Reigning will have a Home Affairs colt to offer at the 2027 yearling sales, and is currently awaiting the arrival of a foal by Anamoe.
Home Affairs filly pulls off slick victory
Brad Widdup-trained 3-year-old Belle Chanteuse (Home Affairs) put in a smart performance to win her heat at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning. The filly travelled mid-pack for Chad Schofield, before having to cut around several runners for clear air in the home straight. Once out in the open, she accelerated away to win by a half-length over Turenne (Tassort).
A $700,000 Magic Millions purchase for Mulberry Racing from Coolmore Stud, Belle Chanteuse is a daughter of G3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes winner Jazz Song (Fastnet Rock), making her a half-sister to multiple Group performer and HK$15.4 million (AU$2.75 million) earner Sword Point (American Pharoah {USA}).

Jazz Song is a daughter of G1 Winter Stakes winner Absolut Glam (Snowland), whose half-sisters have produced the likes of G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude winner Miss Gunpowder (Pendragon {NZ}) and Listed-winning Grade I performer Twentytwentyvision (USA) (Pollard’s Vision {USA}). Jazz Song’s half-sister Shaama (Redoute’s Choice) was Group 1 performed in South Africa before producing Group 3 winner and multiple Group performer Saartjie (SAf) (Dynasty {SAf}) in the jurisdiction.
Jazz Song has 2-year-old and yearling fillies by Home Affairs next to the track.
Spirit Of Boom juvenile quickest of Birchley quartet
A quartet of 2-year-olds trained by Liam Birchley, were the first four home in a juvenile trial at the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday, led by Dream Crusher (Spirit Of Boom). The filly powered home to win by two thirds of a length over stablemate Clairvue Courage (Dracarys), followed by Rowdy Return (Pierro) and Hold Your Line (The Odyssey).

A homebred for her connections, Dream Crusher is the second foal out of five-time winner Le Figaro (Dream Ahead {USA}), a half-sister to multiple Group performer French Endeavour (Rubick). This is the family of G3 Vo Rogue Plate winner Graceful Anna (Canny Lad) and G3 Birthday Card Stakes winner Catch The Glory (Zousain).
Le Figaro has a yearling colt by Wild Ruler and visited Stronger in 2025.
