This year's edition of $20 million G1 The Everest set a new record for World Pool turnover on a single race with HK$113.2 million (£10.8 million/AU$20.7 million) bet into the global pools, comfortably eclipsing the HK$99.2 million turnover generated on the 2025 renewal.
Godolphin's Tempted (Street Boss) went one better than her second-place finish to Ka Ying Rising (Shamexpress) in the 2025 edition and defeated that foe by a neck on Saturday.
Jon Knapman, head of commingling at the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), said, “Unfortunately, it wasn't to be a repeat win for Ka Ying Rising in this year's The Everest, but the participation of Hong Kong's global star has once again carried World Pool to new heights.

“The Everest captured the imagination of racing fans the world over and that's underlined by the huge turnover of HK$113.2m generated on the contest, which has easily surpassed last year's total to set a new World Pool single-race turnover record.”
The hugely popular gelding has now earned HK$176.7 million (approx. £17 million/AU$27.5 million), overtaking Golden Sixty's HK$167.17 million (AU$30.9 million) to be in second place among Hong Kong's highest-earning horses behind Romantic Warrior, who retired with world record prizemoney of HK$288,745,697 (AU$53.5 million).
Ka Ying Rising will return to Hong Kong on Monday, October 19 and is targeting the 1200-metre G2 BOCHK Private Banking Jockey Club Sprint at Sha Tin on November 22 before aiming for a third victory in the G1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint there on December 13.
