The catalogue for the 2027 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale has been released, with 1280 lots set to go under the hammer across five days of selling at the Gold Coast Sales Complex from January 12 to 17.
Book 1 comprises 997 yearlings and will run from Tuesday, January 12, through to Friday, January 15, before Book 2 rounds out the sale with a further 283 lots on Sunday, January 17.
The cream of the Australasian yearling crop will be presented across the five action-packed days of selling at Australia's holiday playground, with a diverse selection of pedigrees, stallions and types offering buyers plenty of choice across all levels of the market.
Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said the team had worked hard to assemble a catalogue with considerable depth and quality.
“There is great depth throughout, the team has done a great job putting it together, and the vendors have provided a great product that we can put to market.”

The right place to sell
The Gold Coast Yearling Sale continues to deliver opportunities for vendors and buyers alike, with recent editions producing outstanding results in the sales ring and, importantly, on the racetrack.
The 2026 sale produced joint top lots when a Frankel (GB) colt offered by Segenhoe Stud and an Extreme Choice colt presented by Kingstar Farm each sold for $2 million.
The previous sale in 2025 also delivered a significant milestone, with the sale record broken twice during the same auction.
A colt by Snitzel out of multiple stakes winner Humma Humma (Denman), offered by Widden Stud, initially established a new benchmark when selling for $2.8 million to Ciaron Maher.
Now named The Next Episode, he has since delivered an outstanding result for his connections, winning the stallion-making G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes just a matter of weeks ago. He became the highest priced Australian yearling to win a Group 1.

That record was surpassed when a daughter of then first-season sire Home Affairs and champion Sunlight (Zoustar) sold for $3.2 million to Japanese trainer Mitsu Nakauchida from Coolmore Stud's draft. Named Lia La La, she has since placed twice in Japan from just three starts.
Bowditch said the support of vendors and breeders had been instrumental in building the strength of the annual sale.
“Thanks to the unwavering support of our vendors and breeders across Australasia, we have assembled an outstanding catalogue of yearlings to kick away the new year in style," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.
“There’s no doubt that, for most breeders in Australia, if their horse is ready for an early sale, they are aiming it at Magics in January.”

“Our team has inspected a massive number of youngsters, and we have brought together an incredibly strong group to fly the Magic Millions flag in January and in the seasons to come on the track.”
The depth of the sale is also reflected in the success of its graduates, with Gold Coast graduates having won an impressive collection of major races over the past year.

“With outstanding quality and choice at all levels of the market, over the past year the Gold Coast Yearling Sale has been the source of winners of the Golden Slipper, ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes, Australasian Oaks, Rosehill Guineas, ATC Coolmore Classic, Golden Rose, Caulfield Guineas, 1000 Guineas, Coolmore Stud Stakes, Golden Eagle and VRC Champions Sprint.”
“The beauty of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale is that quality yearlings cover so many levels of the market - no matter whether you're looking for a specific sire or a certain price-point, you will be spoilt for choice,” Bowditch added.

Graduate success continues
The sale's recent racetrack record provides another compelling endorsement of the quality on offer, with graduates continuing to make their presence felt at the highest level.
Among the current season's Group 1 winners sourced from the Gold Coast are Warwoven (Sword Of State), Autumn Boy, Saintly Dancer (St Mark’s Basilica {Fr}), The Next Episode, Skyhook (Written Tycoon), Point Barrow (Blue Point {Ire}) and Guest House (Home Affairs).
The Next Episode has been a particularly notable success story, having progressed from a $2.8 million yearling purchase to a Group 1 winner in the Coolmore Stud Stakes.

Bowditch highlighted the colt's success as an example of the results the sale can produce for both domestic and international buyers.
“The Next Episode has been a dream result for everyone, he sold for $2.8 million at last year’s sale to an international investor who was buying his first horse from the sale, and he comes out and wins the Coolmore.

“It’s what it is all about, and often those types of colts are found on the Gold Coast.”
The success of the sale's graduates has extended well beyond individual feature race victories, with Magic Millions-sourced horses continuing to feature prominently across the major carnivals.
“Buyers want to be winning big races during carnival time, yesterday our graduates made up the trifecta in the Golden Gift, had the winner of The Five Diamonds, and The Champion Sprint.
“The catalogue graduates just keep on performing.”
Depth of pedigree and diversity of choice
Buyers will have plenty to examine across both books, with the 997-lot Book 1 and 283-lot Book 2 yearlings offering an impressive combination of commercial pedigrees, proven families and emerging bloodlines.
The catalogue features the progeny of a significant collection of Group 1-winning mares, including Bonaria (Redoute’s Choice), Booker (Written Tycoon), Estijaab (Snitzel), Lickety Split (NZ) (Turn Me Loose {NZ}), First Seal (Fastnet Rock), Foxplay (Foxwedge), In Her Time (Time Thief), Instant Celebrity (Not A Single Doubt), Invincibella (I Am Invincible), Melody Belle (NZ) (Commands), Odeum (Written Tycoon), She's Extreme (Extreme Choice), Shout the Bar (Not A Single Doubt) and Tiggy Wiggy (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}), among many others.
There is also no shortage of closely related offerings, with half, three-quarter or full relations to a number of leading Group 1 performers heading to the Gold Coast.
Those include yearlings related to Alligator Blood (All Too Hard), Angel Capital (Harry Angel {Ire}), Autumn Boy (The Autumn Sun), Charm Stone (I Am Invincible), Farnan, Imperatriz (I Am Invincible), Lara Antipova (Russian Revolution), My Gladiola (I Am Invincible), Point Barrow and Spicy Martini (Justify {USA}).
Further depth comes through yearlings with at least half-relations to recent carnival Group winners Amelia's Affair (Home Affairs), Blue Door (Stay Inside), Central Europe (Frankel {GB}), Changing Colours (The Autumn Sun), King Snitz (Snitzel), Savvy Hallie (Hellbent) and Shraddha (Ole Kirk).
Exciting first-season sires alongside proven performers
The strength of the stallion representation is another feature of the 2027 catalogue, with buyers presented with opportunities across both exciting emerging sires and established names who continue to produce results at the highest level.
Among the first-season stallions represented are Shinzo, Ozzmosis, Hawaii Five Oh. King's Gambit, Paddington (GB), and Chaldean (GB), with 22 first-crop sires featuring across the overall catalogue.

The Gold Coast has traditionally provided vendors with an important early opportunity to showcase yearlings by new stallions, and this year's line-up continues that trend.
“A lot of farms look to start the year by offering some of the best produce of the first-season sires, and we are well-numbered in this regard,” Bowditch said.

There is also considerable depth among the proven stallions, with Bowditch pointing to the continued success of several established names and the strong representation of their progeny.
“As always, there will always be high demand for the proven boys, Snitzel is flying, we have a great number of Extreme Choice yearlings in comparison to his overall numbers, I Am Invincible, Zoustar and we have a great number of Home Affairs yearlings and he has made such a good start to his stud career.”
