The select group of entries for the Goffs UK Goodwood Sale include a stakes-placed son of Australia's Champion first-season sire elect Sidestep as well a French Group winner and a champion sprinter from South America.
The sale, which made its debut on the calendar last year, will be held at the Glorious Qatar Goodwood Festival in the winners’ enclosure following racing on the £1 million Qatar Sussex S. day on July 31.
There are seven entries for the sale already, including Wheels On Fire (Fr), who is one of four winners to date from Sidestep's first Northern Hemisphere crop from his time at Haras De Logis in France.
Trained by Matthieu Palussaire, Wheels on Fire was beaten just half a length in the Listed Reves D'Or at Vichy recently, having finished midfield in the Listed Windsor Castle S. at Royal Ascot. He is also entered for the G3 Molecomb S on the second day of the Festival.
He hails from the extended family of stakes-winners Fairy Queen (Ire) (Fairy King (USA}), Tashawak (Ire) (Night Shift {USA}) and Acropolis (Ire) (Sadler's Wells {USA}).
Freshman honours
Sidestep, a Darley-owned stallion who will stand at Telemon Thoroughbreds in Queensland for the second time this season, will claim first-season sires honour in Australia thanks largely to the win of Godolphin filly Kiamichi in the G1 Golden Slipper S.
Of the other lots on offer, Holy Legal (Brz) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) creates plenty of interest. She was the Champion sprinter in Uruguay in 2017-18 and the winner of 13 of her 27 career starts, seven of which have come at Group or Listed level.
Holy Legal (Brz)
She is out of the Listed winner and Group 1 placed mare Hora Legal (Brz) (Minstrel Glory {USA}) and is a half-sister to Group and Listed winners El Demolidor (Brz) (Spring Halo {Arg}) and Where’s The Drink (Brz) (Holzmeister {USA}). She is currently racing in America, she has placed third on her last two starts at Arlington Park.
Red Armada (Ire)
The in-form Red Armada (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) has won his two most recent starts, including a Class 3 handicap at Ascot, earning him a BHA flat rating of 89. From a black-type family, he is out of the Listed winner Alumni (GB) (Selkirk {USA}), who is a half-brother to the Listed winner and multiple Group placegetter Dux Scholar (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) and is from the family of the Group 1 winner Persuasive (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}).
Group 3 winner
Little Kim (GB) (Garswood) won the G3 Prix du Bois last season as a 2-year-old and sold in foal to Showcasing (GB). She is out of the Listed winner Primo Lady (GB) (Lucky Story {USA}) and is a half-sister to the Listed winner and Royal Ascot G2 Queen Mary S. placegetter Out Of The Flames (GB) (Showcasing {GB}).
Also in the catalogue are Harvey Dent (GB) (Mayson {GB}), a three-time race winner who has won two of his last three starts and Fan Club Rules (Ire) (Gutaifan {Ire}), a 2-year-old winner in France who placed fourth in the G3 Bois S. and who also carries an entry in the Goodwood Qatar Festival’s Molecomb S.

“It will also offer some highly attractive breeding opportunities with a multiple Stakes winning Champion Sprinter and a Group winning filly in foal to Showcasing."
“The sale also offers the opportunity to secure a runner in the ‘Glorious’ Qatar Goodwood Festival with multiple sale entrants carrying festival entries. Goffs UK, in conjunction with the BHA, can arrange immediate change of ownership meaning purchases can race in your name and colours following the sale.
“The sale will also offer three 2-year-olds who will race in the time honoured Molecomb S. the afternoon prior to the sale, allowing buyers to see entries perform at Group level before purchasing later Wednesday evening."
