Lloyd gets the call

Trainer Toby Edmonds has used the experience of Jeff Lloyd for a progress report on his Melbourne-bound galloper Tyzone (Written Tycoon).

Lloyd retired from race riding in July, but has been riding some trackwork as well as barrier trials.

Edmonds asked him to partner G1 Stradbroke H. runner-up Tyzone and he wasn't knocked when winning a 900 metre trial at the Gold Coast.

Milestone for Williams

Canterbury jockey Kylie Williams had a day to remember at Riccarton at the weekend, not only picking up a winning double but also secured her 700th career win in the saddle.

Williams has been happy with her recent results, but admits the lack of experience in the ranks in the South Island are a bit thin at the present time.

“I have been getting a lot of support this time back around,” she said. “The senior ranks down here are a bit minimal at the moment, so that probably makes it a little bit easier.

“In saying that, there are a lot of apprentices down here too. I’m thankful to the people that put me on.”
