Ascot, G1 Crown Perth Winterbottom S., $1,000,000, 1200m

Race summary

Hey Doc jumped quickly from barrier 13 where he eased across the track to lead ahead of Vital Silver (Wanted).

From here it was open running as he settled under Luke Currie and set the pace.

From the 600 metres it looked obvious McEvoy’s dream comeback for his sprinter was to play out as he strode away clear by 2.5l to win. WA-trained sprinters Vital Silver and Rock Magic (Redoute’s Choice) fought out the minor placings - with a short-neck splitting them.

Pedigree notes

An 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale graduate. Hey Doc was offered by Rosemont Stud and the hammer went down for $85,000 to McEvoy Mitchell Racing.

Hey Doc is from the General Nediym mare Heyington Honey, who produced two foals for two winners. Her other foal Heather Honey (Congrats {USA}) is a winner over 1400 metres.

Ascot, Listed Magic Millions Tattersalls Cup, $100,000, 2100m

Race summary

Missile Launch (Smart Missile) came here in good touch and he won for the second time in three starts for trainer Vaughn Sigley.

Jockey Patrick Carberry had him travelling comfortably within shouting distance of the leaders and made his move before the turn.

Missile Launch came three wide at the top of the straight and was too strong for Taxagano (Rogano) and the favourite Forceful (Hard Spun {USA}) raced on the fence and was out in time but only battled for third.

Pedigree notes

The dam Takeiteasyedye (USA) (Opening Verse {USA}) was a prolific winner with 10 victories on her CV and she is a daughter of the G1 Railway S. winner Jungle Dawn (Jungle Boy {GB}).

Her sister Jungle Mist won the G2 WATC Champion Fillies’ Classic and the Winterbottom S., then a Group 2 event while a brother Jungle Hero was a two-time Group 3 winner.

Doomben, G3 TAB George Moore S., $200,000, 1200m

Race summary

Chapter And Verse (Rothesay) won out in a thrilling finish when he arrived in the nick of time for a slender victory.

The Desleigh Forster-trainer 5-year-old settled toward the back of the field before rider Mark Du Plessis brought him with a sustained finish to get his nose in front on the post.

The strongly-fancied Outback Barbie (Spirit Of Boom) also found the line strongly for the closest of seconds and Boomsara (Spirit Of Boom) did well to take third after he was forced to cover extra ground from a horror draw.

Pedigree notes

Chapter And Verse is a half-brother to the multiple winner and black type performer Soaring Heart (Show A Heart).

Their dam McFly (Perugino {USA}), who was successful on five occasions, is a half-sister to the Listed placegetter McCloud (Jeune {GB}).

The G3 Vo Rogue Plate and Magic Millions Guineas Boomsara is also a member of this family.

Doomben, Listed TAB Mode Plate, $125,000, 1200m

Race summary

Sugar Boom (Spirit Of Boom) is right at the top of her game and she is now unbeaten in three runs this preparation.

She overcame a wide gate to win at the Sunshine Coast at her previous appearance and did so again with ease here, crossing the field and leading all the way with a commanding performance.

Oh Five Glory (Unencumbered) did well off a wide run for second and Euro Belle (Eurozone) made strong ground along the rail for third at long odds.

Pedigree notes

The winner is a daughter of Acupuncture (NZ) (Pins), who is also the dam of the multiple winner and Group 3 performer Intencion.

The dam is a half-sister to the multiple Listed winner Anatina (Fastnet Rock) and another black type winner in Pricked (Thorn Park).

Also a member of this family is the six-time winner and G3 Hawkesbury Guineas placegetter Quackerjack (Not A Single Doubt).
