A powerful performance from smart 2-year-old Aysar has co-trainer Ben Hayes dreaming of feature races in the spring with the son of Deep Field, who broke his maiden in some style at Sandown on Wednesday.
Deep Field's amazing second season with runners on the track continues and he now has 79 winners, one less than his own sire Northern Meteor had in setting a new mark for a second-season sire back in 2013/14.
The Shadwell-owned Aysar swept on the leaders at the top of the straight in the Ladbrokes Back Yourself H. cruising away to win by 3l in a performance which gave every indication of better wins to come.
It was a substantial improvement off his debut third at Mornington last month, and Hayes, who trains in partnership with his father David as well as Tom Dabernig, had a glint in his eye reflecting on the success.
“He lived up to expectations today and learnt a lot from his last run,” he said. “He was very professional and hit the line hard, so is an exciting horse going forward."

“He’s a lovely lengthy horse and I think when we get him out to a trip you’ll see the best of him, 1400 to a mile.
“I think you’ll see him next in the new season as a 3-year-old.”
Races such as the Caulfield Guineas look well within the realms of possibility for Aysar, who was a $260,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase for Shadwell from the Torryburn Stud draft.
Aysar as a yearling
He is the first foal of Miss Interiors (Flying Spur), herself a three-time winner and half-sister to Newgate stallion and dual Group 1 winner Russian Revolution as well as G3 Frances Tressady S. winner Turbo Miss (Sebring).
The G1 Newmarket Sun Chariot S. winner Majestic Roi (USA) (Street Cry {Ire}) is a significant international member of the family along with multiple American Listed winner Taletobetold (USA) (Tale Of The Cat {USA}).
The win not only would have pleased Hayes, but also Torryburn, who purchased Miss Interiors for $625,000, in foal with this smart colt, at the 2017 Inglis Chairman's Sale, through Belmont Bloodstock.
Her yearling colt by I Am Invincible fetched $875,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Round 1 Yearling Sale earlier this year when bought by Tom Magnier, while she has a weanling colt by Capitalist and is in foal to Dundeel (NZ).
