Pedigree Boosters - Inglis Easter and Weanling Sales

3 min read

In the build up to the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale Round 2, the Scone Yearling Sale and the Australian Weanling Sale, we will pick out three lots who have enjoyed pedigree updates in the lead-up to the auctions.

Today, we look at a yearling filly from the family of South African star Soqrat (Epaulette) as well as weanlings by Hellbent and Spieth (NZ) with some recent winners in the family.

Easter Round 2, Lot 99 - Sebring x Bubble Below (Hussonet {USA}) - On account of Evergreen Stud Farm

This filly already has plenty to like about her pedigree being a sister to Group 1-winning Hong Kong sprinter Lucky Bubbles, but the international aspect of her page was enhanced even further last weekend. Her dam, Bubble Below (Hussonet {USA}) is a three-quarter sister to Elzeeza (Hussonet {USA}), who is the dam of South African star Soqrat (Epaulette).

Already a triple Group 1 winner, Soqrat was second in the G1 Champions Challenge at Turffontein on Saturday, adding further to his resume. Another relative of this filly, Styledargent (Fr) (Style Vendome {Fr}) won the Listed Grand Prix de Lyon in Paris recently, giving additional credentials to a page that already has Australian stakes winners such as Lunaspur (Flying Spur), Colorado Claire (Hussonet {USA}), Gunnison (Not A Single Doubt), Moonovermanhattan (Manhattan Rain) and Selenia (Not A Single Doubt).

Australian Weanling Sale, Lot 50 - Hellbent x Sister Madly (Redoute's Choice) - On account of Segenhoe Stud

This colt's dam, Sister Madly, was a Group 2-winning and Group 1-placed racehorse and she is now making her mark as a broodmare with three winners on the track, including recent Ipswich winner Private Universe (I Am Invincible), a three-quarter brother to Lot 50.

The dam was a $1 million buy for Segenhoe back in 2011, while her Sepoy colt Ready Fire Aim sold for $1.2 million as a yearling.

Sister Madly is also a half-sister to Hong Kong Champion Silent Witness (El Moxie {USA}), while stakes-winners Empress Rock (Fastnet Rock) and Fiera Vista (Exceed And Excel) are out of another sibling to that pair.

Australian Weanling Sale, Lot 71 - Spieth (NZ) x Sweet Fire (Shamardal {USA}) - On account of Segenhoe Stud

This filly has a quality international pedigree, being out of a stakes-placed half-sister to South African superstar Igugu (Galileo {Ire}), who was a four-time Grade 1 winner. Her son El Misk (GB) (Dansili {GB}) stepped up to stakes company for the first time at Newmarket last weekend and was only narrowly beaten.

Spieth (NZ), sire of Lot 71 | Standing at Aquis Farm

Sweet Fire also a half-sister to Group 3 winner Honorius (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) as well as South African Listed winner Ngaga (Fastnet Rock), while Group 2 winners Tarka (All Too Hard) and Zerpour (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}) are also part of that family.
