Race summary
At just her fifth career start, 4-year-old mare Aimee’s Jewel (NZ) (Proisir) scored her first stakes victory when she snuck up along the rail to win the feature for the fillies and mares.
Jumping from barrier 11, the Trudy Keegan-trained mare managed to get cover up near the rail under Lisa Allpress before a gap opened up in the final 200 metres and she rocketed past her rivals to score a 0.5l win.
Irish Girl (NZ) (El Roca) scored second with Excelleration (NZ) (Exceed And Excel) running on well for third.

Aimee’s Jewel was purchased by TC Pannell for NZ$10,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka May Sale from the Curraghmore draft and is the sixth foal to race, and third winner, out of Listed Waikato RC Sprint H. victor Aimee’s Idol (NZ) (Colombia {NZ}).
Aimee’s Idol is a daughter of Aimee’s Star (Lord Century), who herself is a half-sister to Bankers Tonic (NZ) (British Banker {Can}), the dam of Singapore stakes winner Ready To Strike (NZ) (Colombia {NZ}).
Aimee’s Jewel becomes the third stakes winner for Rich Hill Stud resident Priosir, who stands for a fee of NZ$9000 (plus GST) this year.

Race summary
Prince Oz (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) scored his second win in this race in three years after storming home down the middle of the track to nab the victory.
Ridden by Terry Moseley, Prince Oz jumped from a wide barrier and went straight back to the tail of the field and on to the fence before veering out around the bend and rocketing home in the final 150 metres to win by 1.3l.
Rocanto (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) finished second after making a late run, while Puysegur (Fastnet Rock) finished off late and was 0.1l away in third.

Prince Oz is the first live foal from Seasoned Star mare Royal Princess (NZ) and was bred and is raced by Raymond Connors and family. His only sibling to race is the Savabeel filly Royal Sav (NZ), who has won over 2000 metres.
His second dam Lal’s Gift (Noble Bijou {USA}) is also responsible for multiple stakes winner De Montfort (NZ) (Random Chance {NZ}), while this is also the family of G1 Auckland Cup winner Roger That (NZ) (Shinko King {Ire}) and multiple stakes placegetter Krameric (Rubick).
Prince Oz is one of 96 stakes winners for champion sire O’Reilly (NZ) and one of six this season.

Race summary
The Roger James and Robert Wellwood-trained Hypnos (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}) scored his second stakes victory in a row as he ran away with the Riccarton feature on Wednesday.
Ridden by Danielle Johnson, the 5-year-old gelding settled three back on the fence and loomed up behind the front runners around the bend.
Johnson had to be patient when waiting for a run but once the gap did open, he burst through to score a commanding 1.5l win.
Tobilicious (NZ) (Natural Destiny) ran home strongly to score second while Communique (NZ) (Redwood {GB}) gave good chase to finish another 0.2l away in third.

Bred by Gerry Harvey, Hypnos was purchased out of Westbury Stud’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale by James for NZ$50,000.
He is a son of the unraced Elusive Quality (USA) mare Quality Dream, a daughter of the G2 Royal S. winner Dreamworks (NZ) (Maroof {USA}).
The third dam Slanchyvah (NZ) (Kaapstad) was also a talented performer and won the Listed Doomben Classic and was twice placed at Group 1 level.

Race summary
The Chris Waller-trained Black On Gold (Sebring) scored an upset win and landed his first stakes win after a number of narrow misses.
The 7-year-old gelding settled three back on the fence but saved ground around the bend and presented at the top of the straight before running on to win by 0.7l.
Archedemus (Lope De Vega {Ire}) was gallant in defeat after leading the trip and holding on for second while Savacool (NZ) (Savabeel) ran home strongly for third.

Fools Gold is out of Listed winner Follow Gold (Export Prince {Fr}), making her a half-sister to G1 Robert Sangster Classic S. scorer Driefontein (Fastnet Rock).
Black On Gold is the 64th individual stakes winner for the late sire Sebring.
