Race summary
Kolding (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}) secured the final Group 1 of the Sydney carnival, nosing out a brave Savatiano (Street Cry {Ire}).
Ridden by Brenton Avdulla the underrated gelding settled back in the field from barrier three. Avdulla continued to work his mount through his gears prior to peeling out and presenting with a strong run down the middle of the straight.
Godolphin mare Savatiano kicked clear and looked to have the race at her mercy with a furlong to run. However, Kolding failed to falter and added a second Group 1 and third big feature race to his resume.
Cascadian (GB) (New Approach {Ire}) flashed home into third under Jamie Kah while capable colt Prague (Redoute’s Choice) finished a commendable fourth.

Race summary
Captivant fended off a hard-closing Hilal (Fastnet Rock) to secure a maiden Group 1 for his star first-season sire Capitalist.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt was gifted a superb ride by James McDonald who used barrier one to his advantage and assumed a forward position settling fourth in running. From there he relaxed his mount and plotted a rails course. In the straight McDonald bided his time prior to presenting with a strong run with 250 metres to run before fending off a hard-closing Hilal who had settled back in the field.
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Converge (Frankel {GB}) lost no admirers hanging on to finish third after being left a sitting duck in the straight, while Queenslander I’ve Been There (Spill The Beans) ran out of his skin to finish a bold fourth.

Captivant was a $550,000 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase by China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock and Starlight Racing via the draft of Ashleigh Thoroughbreds.
He is the third progeny of placed mare Speedboat (Commands) who herself is out of a half-sister to multiple Listed winner Cross Current (Keltrice). She also descends from the first damline of G1 New Zealand Derby winner Crown Prosecutor (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}).
Her most recent offspring to go under the hammer is a colt by Hellbent who was purchased for $300,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Suman Hedge Bloodstock and Ciaron Maher Bloodstock. She has since thrown another colt by Hellbent in 2020 and hasn’t been served since.
Capitalist a G1 Golden Slipper winner currently stands at Newgate Farm as we continue to see his juvenile progeny thrive on the track.

All Hallows’ Eve (NZ) (Sacred Falls {NZ}) claimed her maiden back-type success, prevailing under leading hoop Jamie Kah.
The John O’Shea-trained galloper was gifted a perfect ride by Kah who settled down in a midfield position from barrier one, prior to peeling out into the middle of the track on straightening.
From there the flashy filly extended under the urges of Kah before running down a brave Elizabeel (Savabeel) and fending off a fast finishing I Say Hello (NZ) (Iffraaj {GB}).

Race summary
The Chris Waller-trained Senor Toba (Toronado {Ire}) dismantled a strong field, en route to his biggest success to date.
The lightly raced prospect settled last in the run and spotted the lead more than 7l on straightening. From there Hugh Bowman worked his way to the outside and presented in between the leading chances Lion’s Roar (NZ) (Contributer {Ire}) and Khoekhoe (Turffontein).
When asked to let down the grey extended under the urges of Bowman and levelled up alongside subsequent place getters High Supremacy (NZ) (Savabeel) and Achiever (Pride Of Dubai) before walking in over the concluding stages.

Paths Of Glory (GB) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) held out highly rated import Zaaki (GB) (Leroidesanimaux {Brz}) in a thrilling finish.
The Richard and Michael Freedman-trained gelding stepped clean from the machine prior relaxing in a midfield rails position under Rachel King.
From the low draw King was able to secure cover and despite finding herself held up on straightening she never panicked, biding her time before presenting up the inside.
The Annabel Neasham-trained Zaaki trucked up under light riding and looked to have the race at his mercy. However, he was unable to wear down a fit and firing Paths Of Glory who refused to give in.
Victorian raider Hang Man (Ire) (Windsor Knot {Ire}) was strong through the line in third, while impressive last-start winner Polly Grey (NZ) (Azamour {Ire}) knocked up into fourth.

Splintex (Snitzel) bounced back to his best with a strong on-paced performance under Joshua Parr.
The talented entire stepped quick into stride form barrier nine and quickly rolled forward to settle down in the box seat. From there he continued to stalk the leader before levelling up and letting down with a strong turn of foot at the 300 metre mark.
Resuming Godolphin galloper Ranier (Lohnro) was powerful through the line despite racing in restricted room until late in the piece while top weight Victorem (I Am Invincible) worked home soundly into third, holding out a luckless Outback Barbie (Spirit Of Boom).

Tasmania’s darling Still A Star (Toronado {Ire}) notched up her maiden mainland success in fine fashion.
The Bill Ryan-trained 4-year-old settled back in the field under rising hoop Michael Poy after stepping evenly out of barrier two. Poy remained patient along the running rail prior to producing his mount on straightening when the field fanned out towards the midfield lanes.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Missile Mantra (Smart Missile) nosed out Riddle Me That (Deep Field) to finish a distant second, while Reykjavik (Artie Schiller {USA}) was even through the line in fourth.

She is the third foal out of dual winner Lita (Casino Prince) who herself is out of G3 Red Anchor S. winner Royal Asscher (NZ). This family doesn’t boast the most enriched pedigree. However, G1 Sires’ Produce S. winner Diamond Shower (Zephyr Zip {NZ}) features in Lita’s fourth damline.
Lita has recently thrown a colt by Bolt D’Oro (USA) after missing to Alpine Eagle in 2019.
