Ginger’s Gal (Exceed And Excel) raced up to her looks and speedy pedigree when she clocked the fastest time of four 2-year-old heats over 850 metres on the Kensington track at Randwick on Friday morning.

The Bjorn Baker-trained filly sat three wide in front and wasn’t ridden out by jockey Alysha Collett to score by 0.5l and stop the clock at 49.90s.

Ginger’s Gal, who was making her first trial appearance, was sold by Yulong at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $600,000 with the Hong Kong-based All Winners Thoroughbreds securing the chestnut.

“She was a lovely filly and looked very fast. She was well put together and a very forward type of filly,” Yulong Chief Operating officer Sam Fairgray said.

Ginger’s Gal represented a good piece of business for Yulong, who had purchased the filly’s dam Cerberus Gal (General Nediym) for $350,000 at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale where she was offered by Riversdale.

“We bought her in foal to Exceed And Excel and then she had this filly. She missed to Dundeel the following year and she’s got an Alabama Express colt at foot, he’s a cracker,” Fairgray said.

Cerberus Gal was a capable mare, who won three races up to 1200 metres and finished runner-up in the G2 Yallamabee Classic. All five of her foals to race have been successful and includes the G3 Schweppervescence H. winner Irukandji (Dundeel {NZ}).

“The mare will be going back to Alabama Express because the foal is such a great individual. He’s throwing beautiful foals, they have the size and strength Redoute’s Choice used to put into his foals,” Fairgray said. “It’s great to see that is being carried through to Alabama Express’ progeny.”

Snowden double

Peter and Paul Snowden produced Secret Revolution and Miss Hellfire, first-crop representatives respectively of Russian Revolution and Hellbent, to win their juvenile heats and the other went to Let’s Roll (Shalaa {Ire}) from the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable.

Secret Revolution was a $300,000 buy for Snowden Racing at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale where the colt was offered by Widden Stud. He is from the family of the G1 Railway H. winner Gold Trail (Hussonet {USA}).

A half-sister to the late Listed Woodlands S. winner Xtremetime (Extreme Choice), Miss Hellfire was sold by Newgate to Triple Crown Syndications at the Gold Coast for $60,000.

Waterhouse and Bott purchased Let’s Roll out of Segenhoe Stud’s Gold Coast consignment for $160,000 and the colt is a grandson of the dual Group 1 winner Foxwood (NZ) (Centaine).

Everest hopes

Earlier in the trial program, The TAB Everest candidates Classique Legend (Not A Single Doubt) and Eduardo (Host {Chi}) were put through their paces.

The Les Bridge-trained Classique Legend came from fourth spot to win his 1050-metre heat under a strong hold from rider Kerrin McEvoy with Entriviere (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}) finishing well along the fence for second.

Joseph Pride’s Eduardo assumed his customary role at the head of affairs under Nash Rawiller in his 735-metre heat and cruised to the post to have 1.2l on Dawn Passage (Dawn Approach {Ire}) at the finish.

Classique Legend is the current $4.50 favourite to retain his Everest title while Eduardo is on the fourth line of betting at $7.
