It was a case of history repeating in the Listed John Letts Cup with last year's winner Regalo Di Gaetano (Supreme Class) again to the fore; only the second horse Dynamic Hero by Bellotto (USA) the first to win this race in consecutive years.
Bred by Mr PD Dingwall, he is the sole stakes winner for Supreme Class (Redoute's Choice) who died last year. On the back of a 4l Cranbourne trial victory, he was sold to Hong Kong where he won five races, competing soundly in Group 1 company.
Regalo Di Gaetano's dam is the city winner Regalina (Regal Shot) who had just three foals. Her dam by is by Blevic (Scenic {Ire}) who won the G1 VRC Derby on this weekend 27 years ago.
A descendant of the acclaimed matriarch Eulogy (GB) (Cicero {GB}), Regalo Di Gaetano carries multiple Bletchingly and Biscay strains and is line-bred to the outstanding mares Natalma (USA) (Native Dancer {USA}) and Perfume II (GB) (Badruddin {Fr}).
