The Hunter, $1,000,000, 1300m
It was a big payday for Lost And Running (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) who justified favouritism with a dominant performance.
Bred by JML Bloodstock, he was purchased by John O’Shea for $40,000 at the 2018 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. Already a Listed winner, he is one of 22 stakes winners for Little Avondale Stud’s in-form Per Incanto (USA), a Group 3 winner in Italy.
He is the first foal for the lightly raced Dreamlife (NZ) whose sire Danroad is also the dam sire of Verry Elleegant (NZ) (Zed {NZ}). Served last spring by Savabeel after producing a full sister to Lost And Running, she is a full sister to the G3 Vamos S. winner Kiss Me Ketut (NZ) and half-sister to the Listed winners A Chance To Dream (Volksraad {GB}) and Fast Love (Fastnet Rock), dam of Listed winner Kaonic (NZ) (Savabeel).
Lost And Running carries strains of the close relations Northern Dancer (Can) (Nearctic {Can}), Halo (USA) (Hail To Reason {USA}), Danehill (USA) (Danzig {USA}) and Machiavellian (USA) (Mr Prospector {USA}).
G3 NJC 3YO Spring S., $160,000, 1600m
Festival Dancer (Choisir) was so strong to the line recording a significant victory for her now retired sire… that globe-trotting multiple Group 1 winner’s 100th stakes winner. And he sired the third home, Lease, as well; an all Coolmore Stud finish with Pierro’s son War Eternal the runner-up.
Bred by part owner Dr D Hummelstad, Festival Dancer was facing a rise in class, doing a great job winning her fourth race in a row from 13 starts overall.
A $33,000 graduate of the 2020 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Festival Dancer is out of the imported Group 3 placegetter Festival Princess (Ire) (Barathea {Ire}), half-sister to the Group 3-placed Intern (Ire) (Rip Van Winkle {Ire}).
This is the same branch of the prolific Ciboulette (Can) (Chop Chop {USA}) family as the German Horse of the Year Ransom O’War (USA) (Red Ransom {USA}) and Aquis Farm’s Spieth (NZ) (Thorn Park).
Not served last spring, Festival Princess has colts by Olympic Glory (Ire) and Pride Of Dubai.
