G1 Kingston Town Classic, $1,000,000, 1800m

It was a barnstorming victory recorded by Regal Power (Pierro) who was able to overhaul his more fancied stable mate Western Empire (NZ) (Iffraaj {GB}) giving Bob and Sandra Peter’s a Group 1 quinella.

And their fourth winner of this race in the last seven years - Truly Great (Dundeel {NZ}), Arcadia Queen (Pierro) and Perfect Reflection (More Than Ready {USA}) the others… noting that Arcadia Queen is a sister-in-blood to Regal Power.

The 2019 G1 Railway S. winner who also claimed last year’s All-Star Mile, Regal Power recorded the eight success of his 26 career, one which seen him amass in excess of $4.3 million in stakes.

One of the 25 stakes winners and six Group 1 winners for Coolmore Stud’s five times Group 1 winner Pierro (Lonhro).

A full brother to the G2 WA Derby winner Action (Pierro), Regal Power is out of Broadway Belle (Redoute’s Choice) who won the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic at this same meeting 12 years ago.

Broadway Belle is a full sister to the multiple city winner Arcadia (Redoute’s Choice), dam of Arcadia Queen.

Missing last season, Broadway Belle has a Pierro yearling colt (already named Regal Service) and a Pierro 2-year-colt called Regal Order.

Regal Power’s family is one regularly seen in the stakes winner’s circle, his close relations including the G2 WA Derby winner Arcadia Dream (Domesday), the G3 AJ Scahill S. winner Arcadia Prince (Pierro), the Listed Belgravia S. winner Arcadia Rose (Kheleyf {USA}), the G2 WA Guineas winner Kalatiara (Metal Storm {Fr}), the Listed Farnley S. winner Kalahaar (Choisir), the dual Listed winner Kentiara (Metal Storm {Fr}), the G3 Maurice McCarten S. winner Kencella (Exceed And Excel) and the G2 Perth Cup winner Guest Wing (Right Wing {Ire}).

G3 AJ Scahill S., $200,000, 1400m

What a grand galloper Valour Road (Frost Giant {USA}) has been, his game success yesterday being his ninth overall with seven of his wins coming at stakes level.

Bred by Yarradale Stud who remained in the ownership after he was sold at the 2017 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sales for $60,000, Valour Road is one of the 17 stakes winners sired by G1 Suburban H. winner Frost Giant (USA) (Giant’s Causeway {USA}) who shuttled only twice.

His winning dam Melba Avenue (Street Boss {USA}) is a half-sister to the dual Group 3 winner Raspberries (Lonhro) out of the unplaced La Melba (Grand Lodge {USA}) who is a half-sister to the marvellous galloper Flavour (Rubiton).

A granddaughter of the triple stakes winner Ice Cream Sundae (Sovereign Red {NZ}) (also grandam of the G1 Queensland Derby winner Sonntag by Teofilo {Ire}), Melba Avenue foaled two Exceed And Excel (Danehill {USA}) colts in a row prior to slipping to I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit {Ire}).

Listed Lee-Steere Classic, $125,000, 1400m

It was a much wanted win from Liwa (Mulaazem) who happily took the split when it came, recording her third win from 12 starts and her second at stakes level.

A homebred for Emirates Park, she is the sole stakes winner for her G2 Autumn S.-winning sire who served five small books in Victoria before venturing to New Zealand where he last stood in 2019.

Liwa’s sire and dam hail from the same family, giving her a 4 X 4 cross of her own fourth dam, the terrific broodmare Jesmond Lass (Lunchtime {GB}) whose biggest success story is her G1 Golden Slipper S.-winning high-class sire son Canny Lad (Bletchingly).

What an outstanding family this has been, Liwa also able to boast amongst her relations the big race winners Canny Lass (Bletchingly) (Liwa’s triple Group 1-winning third dam), Camarena (Danehill {USA}), Camarilla (Elusive Quality {USA}), Guelph (Exceed And Excel) and Sepoy (Elusive Quality {USA}) (Mulazeem’s four-times Group 1-winning half-brother).

As well as the G2 Todman S. winner Ghibellines (Shamardal {USA}) who sired yesterday’s Listed Pakenham Cup winner Smokin’ Romans (NZ).

A half-sister to the stakes-winning stallions Rothesay (Fastnet Rock) and Sensei (Dream Ahead {USA}), Liwa’s city-placed dam Sboog (Redoute’s Choice) produced a Pierata (Pierro) colt in early September. She also has a yearling colt by Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) and a 2-year-old filly by Sebring (More Than Ready {USA}), a $100,000 graduate of this year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Listed Jungle Dawn Classic, $125,000, 1400m

It was an exciting finish with the in-form Angelic Miss (NZ) (Savabeel) putting her nose down when it counted - making it a Listed Jungle Mist Classic/Listed Jungle Dawn Classic double.

Bred by Windsor Park Stud and purchased by Simon Miller for $250,000 at the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Angelic Miss is one of her Waikato Stud-based G1 W.S Cox Plate-winning sire’s 121 stakes winners.

Her dam is the Group 3-placed Angelica Hall (NZ), daughter of the triple Listed winner Greta Hall (NZ) (Kaapstad {NZ}) - grandam of the Listed winner Fox Hall (Foxwedge).

Greta Hall is one of seven winners for the high-class broodmare Lovenvain (Vain), the stakes-placed metropolitan winner who was well represented by three other stakes winners... the dual Group 1-winning miler Golden Sword (NZ) (Kaapstad {NZ}), the Group 3 mare Madam Valeta (NZ) (Palace Music {USA}) and the Listed winner Balmoral Keep (NZ) (Balmerino {NZ}).

Descendants of Lovenvain have done a great job, amongst them being the four-time Group winner Falkirk (NZ) (Tale Of The Cat {USA}), the G2 Hill S. winner Mulan Princess (NZ) (Kaapstad {NZ}), the G1 Australasian Oaks heroine Royal Descent (Redoute’s Choice), the Hong Kong Group 3 winner Ho Ho Khan (NZ) (Makfi {GB}) and the Listed winner Luscilla (NZ) (Entrepreneur {GB}).

Bred on a 3 X 4 Sir Tristram (Ire) (Sir Ivor {USA}) cross, Angelic Miss is also line-bred to the great mare Special (USA) (Forli {Arg}) via Nureyev (USA) (Northern Dancer {Can}) and Sadler’s Wells (USA) (Northern Dancer {Can}).

Angelica Hall was served last spring by Ten Sovereigns (GB) (No Nay Never {USA}) with her two previous foals being a Mongolian Khan (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) filly and a Shamexpress (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) colt.
