G3 George Moore S., $200,000, 1200m

Plenty of drama at the start with two well fancied runners coming out at the gates, leaving the race at the mercy of Zoustyle (Zoustar) who was strong to the line recording his third win in a row.

And his ninth from just 13 starts, doing a great job for his proud owner/breeders Desharon Bloodstock and Stableboard Bloodstock.

One of his Widden Stud-based sire’s 25 stakes winners, Zoustyle is out of the imported Fashion (Ger) (Anabaa {Fr}), a stakes-placed daughter of the stakes winner Felina (Ger) (Acatenango {Ger}).

Felina has proven to be as successful off the track as on, 11 of her 13 foals to race being winners including the Group 3 winner Felicity (Ger) (Inchinor {GB}), in turn dam of the triple Group winner Felician (Ger) (Motivator {GB}) and the Listed winner Fly First (GB) (Big Shuffle {USA}).

This European family has also enjoyed good success in Italy via the likes of the stakes winners Lord Chaparral (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}), Lord Nash (GB) (Nashwan {USA}) and Tiaspettofuori (Ity) (Mujahid {USA}).

Listed Recognition S., $130,000, 1350m

Only the second horse (Bold Endeavour by Bold Flip {USA} the first in the late 1960s) to claim two runnings of this race, Tambo’s Mate (Mossman) had to dig deep but that is something he is pretty good at - as his stellar record of 11 wins from 28 shows.

Winning this same race two years ago, Tambo’s Mate reaffirmed his liking for the Doomben circuit, this win his sixth at the track.

A homebred for Dalan Tamblyn, he is one of the 41 stakes winners for his late G1 QTC Classic-winning sire. His dam is the two-time winning city placegetter Passagemaker (Canny Lad) whose other two winners - Passatorio (Oratorio {Ire}) and Canny And The Jet (Jet Spur) won 13 races between them.

Served last spring by Pierata (Pierro) having foaled an Epaulette (Commands) filly, Passagemaker is a daughter of the Listed James H.B. Carr S. winner Georgia Belle (Clear Choice {USA}), half-sister to the stakes-placed Does She Bite (Geiger Counter {USA}).

Tambo’s Mate is one of the seven stakes winners combining Mossman (Success Express {USA}) and Canny Lad (Bletchingly) who both have Mumtaz Begum (Fr) (Blenheim II {GB}) influence.

Listed Eureka Stud Classic Fillies & Mares, $130,000, 1200m

Considering the name of the race it was apt that an up-and-coming daughter of Eureka’s homebred star stallion Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) win the race.

And Miami Fleiss did so in gusty style, doing a great job recording the fifth success at just her seventh outing.

The 15th stakes winner for her dual Group 1-winning sire, the Tony Gollan-trained 4-year-old is a homebred for Brian Siemsen who races her with a big group of happy owners having passed her in at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.

She is one of four foals for the city winner Madam Fly (Excites) who sadly died shortly after foaling a Spirit Of Boom filly in October.

Also dam of the stakes-placed Cochrane (Spirit Of Boom), Madam Fly is a half-sister to the G3 George Moore S. winner Chapter And Verse (Rothesay) out of the stakes-placed multiple city winner McFly (Perugino {USA}).

This is a family that has shown a good affinity for Spirit Of Boom with his G3 Vo Rogue Plate winner Boomsara also a member.

Miami Fleiss is the seventh Spirit Of Boom stakes winner line-bred to Danehill (USA) (Danzig {USA}) who appears in her pedigree via his local sons Special Dane and Danewin.

Listed Mode S., $130,000, 1200m

Gutsy filly Rhapsody Rose (Star Witness) held off a late challenge to win her second black-type victory on the back of her Listed Bill Carter S. success in late May.

One of her Widden Stud Victoria-based dual Group 1-winning sire’s 21 stakes winners, she was bred by GSA Bloodstock who remained in the ownership after she was purchased by Munce Racing and Arthur Hoyeau for $120,000 at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Her dam is the city-placed winner Ritzy (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}), half-sister to the dual Group 1-winning stayer Fiveandahalfstar (Hotel Grand) from the family of G1 Sydney Cup winner Cross Swords (NZ) (Grosvenor {NZ}).

Served last spring by Super Seth (Dundeel {NZ}) having foaled a colt by that G1 Caulfield Guineas winner’s sire Dundeel (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}), Ritzy also has a yet to race Dundeel 2-year-old (Managing Director) in the Grahame Begg stable.

The race was a great success story for Star Witness who also sired the runner-up Putontheredlight whilst his son Star Turn sired the third-placed Miss Hipstar and the fourth home Stellar Magic.
