R. Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic, $2,000,000, 1200m
Coolangatta (Written Tycoon) has not surprisingly opened up favourite having been so impressive winning her first two races both at Group 3 level in such easy fashion. She has a strong 2-year-old pedigree with her dam (a city winner at that age) being a half-sister to the G1 Blue Diamond S. hero Reaan (Hussonet {USA}).
Mishani Spartan (Husson {Arg}) was so game saluting at big odds last weekend and a nice draw makes the double a possibility. It is a good job by his sire to have a Magic Millions representative from a crop that produced just 26 foals.
Catching the eye with a fast-finishing second to Mishani Spartan last Saturday was Stupendo (a Supido half-brother to the Listed winner Absolute Flirt by Stratum) who has much of the look of his talented first-season sire.
Cusack (Not A Single Doubt) has won two local trials since taking out Ballarat's Magic Millions 2Y0 Classic in November. He attempts to become the second winner of this race for his sire who was well represented in 2011 by the flashy Karuta Queen.
Russian Conquest (Russian Revolution) has looked the goods winning his first two, the son of the imported Group 1 winner My Conquestadory (USA) (Artie Schiller {USA}) hails from the debut crop of his exciting young sire.
Also by a first-season stallion is Miss Hellfire (Hellbent) who had plenty in hand winning at this track two weeks ago. Her dam is doing a good job having also produced the 2021 stakes winner Xtremetime (Extreme Choice). Perfect Mission (The Mission) seeks to turn the tables on that filly and she has been game finishing in the first two at all four of her starts to date.
She and Bright Blue Sky (Fastnet Rock) have a bit in common. Perfect Mission being out of a Lonhro mare from Lonhro's family as is this filly who attempts to become the first New Zealand trained winner of this rich race. She was a Te Rapa Listed winner at her November debut and was strong to the line at her Australian debut.
R. Listed Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, $2,000,000, 1400m
Jamaea (Headwater) has been trialling well in preparation for her return and she kicked off her last campaign with a barnstorming victory in the G2 Furious S.
King Of Sparta (I Am Invincible) has the advantage of a good run under his belt (finishing off well in the Listed Gosford Guineas) whilst also representing his high-class sire are Construct (I Am Invincible) who just got too far back last start and I Am Lethal (I Am Invincible) who is shooting for a hat-trick.
The late Spill The Beans (Snitzel) also has two good chances. Release The Beans (Spill The Beans) hard fit third-up and Indiscreetly (Spill The Beans) who has been so exciting winning her first three. Star Turn (Star Witness) is another with two live hopes. Miss Hipstar (Star Turn) coming off a game G3 Vo Rogue S. third whilst Me Me Lagarde (Star Turn) has been tough to the line winning her last two.
Starman (Zoustar) is another who really knows how to find the line as do Far Too Easy (All Too Hard) and Shinhonka (Capitalist).
R. Listed Magic Millions Cup, $1,000,000, 1400m
Plenty will be cheering for Kementari (Lonhro) to forge some unique history here, winning a Magic Millions feature during the same week when his two yearlings go through the ring. He was terrific winning The Buffering and has strong claims for the double.
Apache Chase (Better Than Ready) faced the breeze in that same race and was game holding on for third. Beau Rossa (Unencumbered) is another of the class runners and he has trialled nicely since a close-up first-up fourth in the Listed Falvelon S. And his second-up form is very good.
Eleven Eleven (Fastnet Rock) has trialled well since ending up too far back from a wide gate in the Listed Razor Sharp and a better gate aids his chances here. He has had three at the Gold Coast, winning two of them. Also proven at the track and looking for a return to firmer going is Aim (Star Witness) who just didn't relish the heavy going when resuming.
Meanwhile both Sir Rocket (Smart Missile) and The Ritz (Mossman) are unbeaten here, both three from three at the Gold Coast.
Nudge (Fastnet Rock) did not have the clearest path home in the Listed Nudgee S. but was still a fast-finishing third. By the same sire are Edison (Fastnet Rock) who has been okay at his two runs this time in, noting that he boasts excellent third-up form and Sambro (Fastnet Rock) who was a game first-up second in the Listed Lough Neagh S.
Profit (Dundeel {NZ}) and Holyfield (I Am Invincible) are also racing well.
