Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria - Executive Officer

Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) is a growing, membership-based organisation helping to market and promote the state’s thoroughbred breeding industry.

TBV is seeking a self-motivated Executive Officer who has the ability to think outside the box. You will need to be able to work independently however, you will work as part of a team in projects and stakeholder engagement.

Each day will present a variety of diverse tasks, you will need to travel interstate for horse sales and there is flexibility if you occasionally need to work from home. You will also be required to attend race days, such as the VOBIS Gold Premier race series and other events, out of business hours as part of this role.

The Executive Officer will undertake a number of key tasks including:

• Marketing of TBV and its members through social media, the TBV website and a weekly e-newsletter

• Identifying and implementing innovative marketing opportunities for the Victorian breeding industry

• Membership administration and inquiries

• Organisation of industry networking, awards and sales-based events

• Development of stakeholder relationships with organisations such as Racing Victoria, sales companies, the State Government and other racing/breeding organisations

• Management and development of sponsorships

• Visits to breeding farms around Victoria and attending the odd raceday

• Administration of TBV Committee meetings

• Assist with budget management

• Other tasks as required by the TBV Committee

Things you will definitely need:

• A knowledge of the thoroughbred breeding industry

• Really good public relations, writing and planning skills, including ability to write press releases

• Strong sense of social skills

• Ability to work with a diverse range of industry stakeholders, breeders and members

• A strategic mindset, coupled with strong business acumen

• A good understanding of social media particularly Twitter, Instagram and Facebook

• A working understanding of Mailchimp and WordPress would also be useful but not compulsory

Yarram Park Breeding - Breeding Manager

Location: Grampians, Victoria, Australia

Yarram Park breeding is seeking a dedicated and passionate breeding manager to join their farm in Victoria.

Requirements of the role include:

• Breeding of mares

• Assisting reproduction vets

• Foaling down

• Weaning foals

• Daily feeding of horses

• Scheduling - walker rotations plus farriers and vets

• Record keeping (Ardex and Excel)

• Social media (optional)

Skills and experience required:

• Experience with all types of horsemanship

• Good communication, record-keeping and general management skills

• Proficiency and cleanliness and keen observation skills

• Ability to ‘hit the ground running’

• Preparedness to work according to the farm's seasonal needs to contribute to rotating weekend work

• Ability to foster a good team environment

• Current driver's licence, medium rigid truck licence (truck licence preferable) and experience towing horse floats

TDN AusNZ - Commercial Executive

TDN AusNZ is seeking a motivated and energetic person for the role of Commercial Executive.

Requirements of the role include:

• Building and sustaining long-lasting relationships with existing and potential clients.

• Reporting and communicating to senior management on a regular basis, while working closely with the client relations and marketing manager.

• Becoming familiar with the company’s tools and business development strategy, in order to suggest innovative ways for clients to achieve their advertising goals.

• Maintain a positive image of the brand at all times.

Required experience and skills include:

• Well-networked with Australasian industry participants.

• Strong industry knowledge of key players.

• Be comfortable conversing and liaising with advertisers.

Magic Millions - Complex Manager

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly driven individual to lead the grounds team in a unique and dynamic business as the Complex Manager at Magic Millions, Gold Coast.

We are seeking an individual who enjoys the outdoors and is a leader who has experience in a similar role. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the management of projects, people, facilities and open spaces. As Complex Manager at Magic Millions, this would include overseeing the preparation and maintenance of the 5.5 H complex, including stabling, buildings and equipment.

The successful candidate will effectively lead the grounds team of four full-time staff, have an eye for detail and a readiness to implement safe working practices across the complex. Reporting to the General Manager, your focus will be on leading your staff to have the complex well-maintained and present the complex in pristine condition at each sale throughout the year.

Magic Millions are looking for a candidate who will be a strong leader, who is self-driven, well organised and is an open communicator.

The chosen candidate will demonstrate the following:

• Experience in a similar role, preferably with a maintenance background

• Ability to devise and implement a Maintenance Program

• Experience in leading and managing a team

• The ability to plan and delegate to achieve success

The successful candidate should possess:

• Excellent communication skills

• Be self-motivated

• Computer skills (excel)

• Machinery operating licenses

• Ability to liaise with contractors and obtain quotes for works

• Work with the Magic Millions team and vendors in the lead up to sales to prepare the complex

• General horse handling experience desired, however, not essential

A competitive salary package, including vehicle and phone, will be negotiated depending on the preferred candidate’s experience and qualifications.

STUD MANAGER

Tyreel Stud is a boutique thoroughbred breeding farm located in the Hawkesbury Valley district of Sydney and a position has become available for a hands-on Stud Manager to join our team. This position would ideally suit someone with experience in a similar role who possesses good communication and organisational skills, is motivated, pays attention to detail, is a team player and has the ability to remain confidential. There are approximately 35 broodmares on the farm.

The role will include:

• Total management of all foals, weanlings, broodmares

• Co-ordination of farriers and vets

• Management of all staff

• Assistance with selecting new stock

• Client updates

An attractive remuneration package including above award salary package and accommodation (three bedroom, newly renovated home) including all services paid for and company vehicle included.
