Looking Ahead - February 12

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

On Sunday, we kick off at Bendigo as Kildrummie (Tarzino {NZ}) looks to get off the mark, while Frose (Frosted {USA}) looks to break the ice at Werribee.

Bendigo, Race 1, 12.50pm AEDT, Victorian Equine Group Mdn Plate, $37,500, 1600m

Kildrummie, 3-year-old filly (Tarzino {NZ} x Sardaaj {NZ} {Iffraaj {GB}})

This Danny O'Brien-trained filly will be having the fourth start of her career on Sunday and she lines up off the back of a last-start third.

Purchased from the Rosemont Stud draft for $150,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in 2021, the filly is out of dual-winning mare Sardaaj (NZ) (Iffraaj {GB}) and her first two foals to race were both winners.

Sardaaj herself is a daughter of stakes-placed Sardonyx (NZ) (Ebony Grosve {NZ}) and her six other foals to race were also winners.

The 3-year-old filly will jump from barrier four with Damien Thornton booked to take the ride.

Werribee, Race 2, 2.15pm AEDT, Evergreen Turf 3YO Mdn Plate, $27,000, 1106m

Frose, 3-year-old filly (Frosted {USA} x Ennazus {Exceed And Excel})

This 3-year-old filly is by Darley’s shuttle stallion Frosted (USA) and she will be having her third career start having finished second on her most recent outing.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, the filly was purchased by her trainers for $130,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and she is out of dual winning Exceed And Excel mare Ennazus.

Ennazus herself is out of the Irish Group 3-winning mare Radharcnafarraige (Ire) (Distorted Humor {USA}) making her a sister to stakes-placed So Serene, who finished second in the R. Listed Inglis Nursery.

Further back this is the same family as Group 1 winner turned successful sire Teofilo (Ire) and his Group-winning half-brothers Poetic Charm (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and Bean Feasa (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}).

The filly will jump from barrier six with Daniel Moor booked to take the ride.
