Ahead of the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, we have found three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates over the past couple of months.

The catalogue for the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale was released on November 21, 2022, and since then, a host of yearlings that will be offered at Riverside Stables have had their pedigree enhanced, which is important information for vendors and buyers alike.

Lot 343 - Dubious x Convention (GB) (Encosta De Lago), colt - on account of Clarke and Croft Bloodstock

When this catalogue went to press this colt by Dubious could boast having two winners as siblings in dual scorer Prosecution (GB) (Lawman {Fr}) and Ruysch (Ire) (Dutch Art {GB}).

But last month his brother Extravagant Choice (Extreme Choice) added another element to the pedigree when he broke his maiden at the second attempt at Cranbourne.

The colt is out of the British-bred mare Convention (GB) (Encosta De Lago) and is herself a daughter of Model Queen (USA) (Kingmambo {USA}), the dam of dual Group 1 winner Regal Parade (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and Listed winner Entifaadha (GB) (Pivotal {GB}).

The colt is one of 15 yearlings catalogued by Aquis Farm-based, first-season sire Dubious at this year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Lot 412 - Dundeel (NZ) x Fast And Sexy (Fastnet Rock), filly - on account of Twin Hills Stud

This daughter of Arrowfield Stud-based sire Dundeel (NZ) is out of three-time-winning and Listed-placed Fastnet Rock mare Fast And Sexy, who was already the dam of two winners in the shape of Conexy (Nicconi) and Same Old Scene (Pierro). However, the filly was handed a timely update when her half-brother Wild Irish Rover (No Nay Never {USA}) broke his maiden at Wyong on December 14.

Fast And Sexy herself is out of dual-winning She’s Alluring (Lure {USA}) and she is herself a half-sister to Hillfa (Danehill {USA}), the dam of Listed winner Walk With Attitude (Hussonet {USA}) and she in turn produced Listed winner Zoukerino (Snitzel).

Meanwhile, her other half-sister, Doduo (Danehill {USA}), is the dam of Group 2 winner Contessa Vanessa (NZ) (Bullbars) as well as Listed-winning pair Astor (NZ) (Iffraaj {NZ}) and Niki Piki Milo (NZ) (Librettist {USA}).

Lot 642 - Pierata x Nova Rocha (New Approach {Ire}), colt - on account of Cornerstone Stud

This colt by Aquis Farm’s first-season sire Pierata is out of Nova Rocha (New Approach {Ire}) and when the catalogue was printed she had produced no winners, but she was handed her first triumphant when her first foal Announcing (Press Statement) made a winning debut at Gosford on January 25.

Nova Rocha herself is out of Group 2-winning Encosta De Lago mare Rocha, making her a half-sister to G3 Dark Jewel Classic winner Rocha Clock (Pierro).

Further back this is the same family as G1 South Australian Oaks winner Larrocha (Danehill {USA}) as well as G1 VRC Derby winner turned sire Blackfriars and Group 2 scorer Manton (Danehill {USA}).
