Trained by Chris Waller, who enjoyed another stellar day at Randwick with four winners on the card, the 3-year-old got the better of the James Cummings-trained Pericles (Street Boss {USA}) by a length, with Williamsburg (Snitzel) back in third.

Having landed the G2 Hobartville S. over 1400 metres earlier in his career, Osipenko was unfortunately withdrawn on the morning of the G1 Randwick Guineas due to an elevated temperature, and Waller is more than happy to give him a chance to make amends at the elite-level in the spring off the back off Saturday’s return to winning ways.

“The boys and girls at home say he's a Group 1 horse in waiting so he'll get his turn in the spring,” Waller said.

“He's shown today he can also run 2000 metres, so he's been a Hobartville winner over 1400 metres and a Frank Packer Plate winner over 2000 metres and he's ready to go to the next level.”

“A Derby is a race my father did very well in and I'd like to do it,” Cumani said. “We'll start with the SA Derby and hopefully this horse is the right horse for it.

“I've always loved Dundeels. We bought two more of these this year and we've had a lot of faith in him.”
