Elite Ateates (Exceed And Excel), the dam of Group 1 winner and six-time stakes winner Elite Street (Street Boss {USA}), is another standout entry in the sale.

Another standout is Testa Sarah (Testa Rossa), the dam of R. Listed Inglis Nursery winner Saltaire (Star Turn).

Fortune Seeker (Written Tycoon) is yet another quality breeding prospect in the catalogue that is sure to attract significant interest. She is a three-quarter sister to the stakes-winning filly Comrade Rosa (Capitalist).

While the breeding prospects' section of the catalogue is strong, so is the racing prospects. An intriguing entry is an unreserved 10 per cent share in rising star Brayden Star (GB) (Twilight Son {GB}).

A dominant last-start winner at Sandown six days ago, the lightly raced 4-year-old imported entire has won two of his four starts for Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young since arriving in Australia.

There is also a 10 per cent share in Scallopini (Snitzel), a multiple stakes winner who is set to contest the $3 million G1 Stradbroke H. three days after this sale concludes.

Harch Road wins at Rockhampton

The Clinton Taylor-trained Harch Road became his first-season sire Dracarys' second winner when he scored at start two on Friday at Rockhampton.

Aft Cabin impressive in hitout

The James Cummings-trained Aft Cabin (Astern) tuned-up for his tilt at Group 1 glory in the G1 Stradbroke H. on June 10 at Eagle Farm, with an impressive trial on Friday morning at Randwick.

Kerrin McEvoy acquainted himself with the classy 3-year-old after being booked to ride Aft Cabin for Godolphin in the Stradbroke.

Ascot-based horseman Todd Harvey will reportedly wind up his training establishment by the end of the 2022/23 season. After a lifetime in the industry, Harvey feels the need for a change to reenergise, he reportedly hasn’t ruled out a return to training in the future, but for now will be taking a well-earned break.

Mo has served as an assistant trainer to David Hall, David Ferraris, Benno Yung and Tony Cruz since 2008. Racing Victoria mulls plans for Oaklands

Track managers Liam O’Keeffe (Victorian Racing Club), Marty Synan (Moonee Valley Racing Club) ad Jason Kerr (Melbourne Racing Club) joined Racing Victoria employee James Cataldo and Paul O’Callaghan on an overseas fact-finding mission and visiting some of the world’s best facilities in order to plan for the 980-acre parcel of land Racing Victoria purchased at Oaklands.

O’Keeffe believes the land would be the perfect location for a training centre that is the envy of the world.

“We ventured over to Europe for two weeks. We went on a mission to gain the insights into the best facilities they have over there, we want to bring those ideas back to Australia in mind with the land that's been purchased out at Oaklands by Racing Victoria,” O’Keeffee said.

Influential looks to replicate dad

The Chris Waller-trained Influential, a son of Waller's former trainee The Autumn Sun will contest Saturday’s Listed The Phoenix at Eagle Farm to qualify for the G1 JJ Atkins on June 10.

If successful in obtaining a place in the Group 1, Influential will be looking to emulate his sire The Autumn Sun who claimed the G1 JJ Atkins in 2018 for Waller.

Brisbane business Noel Greenhalgh, who part-owns the colt with others including his wife Maria, John Messara and Waller himself, said, “Influential is just a big immature baby.

“At his last start (G3 Ken Russell Classic), he just lost it in the first few hundred metres but finished off well.”

James McDonald has been engaged to ride the colt.

Frankie Pinot to appreciate drop in grade

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Frankie Pinot (Your Song) has come out of his midfield finish in the G1 Goodwood H. at Morphettville.

Co-trainer Tony McEvoy said, “Twice I have tried to make him a Group 1 1200-metre horse and it just hasn’t worked. I’ve asked him to do something that he just can’t do.”

Frankie Pinot will be dropping considerably in grade and stepping in distance when contesting Saturday’s VRC Community Plate over 1400 metres at Flemington.

“I like Frankie Pinot going to the 1400 metres on the fresh side, he can certainly bounce back.”

Baller chasing history

The Tony Gollan-trained Baller (High Chaparral {Ire}) is searching for his third-straight victory in the G2 Moreton Cup at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

“Three in a row is not an easy thing to do but the conditions of the G2 Moreton Cup make it much easier to do, Baller only has a half-kilo more than last year,” Gollan said.

Connections are keen to target the G1 Stradbroke H. next Saturday pending the gelding’s performance in the Moreton Cup. The Group 2 is the last-chance for horses to make the G1 Stradbroke H. field, with ballot-free entry on the line, but Ballar sits comfortably in the 18-horse field as it is.

With history against Baller, no Moreton Cup winner has ever gone onto claim the Stradbroke.

Prix De Turn 'has his competitiveness back'

The Matthew Brown-trained Prix De Turn (NZ) (Turn Me Loose {NZ}) has been gelded in the hope the operation will help the talented galloper recapture his best form.

The G2 Alister Clark S. winner failed in his only autumn start, prompting connections to proceed with the operation.

“Prix De Turn has certainly got his competitiveness back,” Brown said.

“He got a bit complacent as a bull, but he is back to the Prix De Turn we saw early days.”

Prix De Turn will return in Heat 4 of the Winter Championship at Flemington, run as Race 8, on Saturday over 1400 metres.

“We are not bringing Grinzinger Prince across to make up the numbers. He couldn’t be going any better.”

Reardon purchased Grinzinger Prince from an Inglis Digital Online Sale for $12,000 in February, after the gelding was in training with Danny O’Brien and had an internal bleed.

Ferguson’s high-quality Broodmare Dispersal a major drawcard at Karaka

A select offering of 70 broodmares will go under the hammer during the New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling and Broodmare Sale at Karaka on June 16, with a dispersal of Rob Ferguson’s New Zealand-based mares set to command particular attention.

Ferguson is a highly respected figure in the Australasian thoroughbred industry, where himself and wife Jenny counted a G1 Golden Slipper triumph with Ha Ha (Danehill {USA}) among their list of achievements.

An unreserved dispersal of the Fergusons’ 15 New Zealand-based mares – many of them young prospects who are carrying their first foals – will be offered at Karaka among the drafts of Hallmark Stud and Kilmore Stud.

With Ferguson being a shareholder in exciting stallions, seven of his mares are being offered in foal to Tarzino (NZ) and seven in foal to Sword Of State.

Smart juvenile looking to end campaign on winning note

Tenacious filly Chantilly Lace (NZ) (U S Navy Flag {USA}) will be chasing further black-type honours when she signs off for the season at Wanganui on Saturday.

The Chrissy Bambry-trained 2-year-old will be spelled after the Listed Castletown S. over 1200 metres and has the right credentials to suggest she can go out on a high.

Most recently, she finished third in the Listed Auckland Futurity S. at Pukekohe and came through the race in grand order.

“She’s just a little ripper, she tries really hard and has got a lot of untapped ability,” Bambry said.

“We’re still learning about her, but she pulled up great after the trip to Pukekohe and ate everything up.”

After initially thinking of a break for Chantilly Lace following her northern venture, Bambry has elected to give the filly one more start.

“We’ve kept her ticking over on the treadmill and keeping her happy. We saw that it was a small field and Wanganui is just up the road,” she said.

“It’s an opportunity to get a little bit more black type with her.”
