Satono Aladdin has had 47 runners, resulting in 22 individual winners of 34 races and four stakes winners. He will stand the 2023 breeding season for NZ$45,000 (plus GST).

Steel Blaze breaks through

The Brett Lazzarini-trained Steel Blaze (Real Steel {Jpn}) broke through at start five to score his maiden victory on Saturday at Kembla Grange.

The son of Real Steel (Jpn), ridden by Jean Van Overmeire, defeated Koning (Kingman {GB}) and Life Coach (Supido).

Steel Blaze is the sixth foal from the Snitzel mare Aliyana Tilde. She won the G3 Epona S. and placed in the G1 Australian Oaks and the G1 Sydney Cup. Furthermore, this is the family of the G1 Queensland Oaks placegetter Noah ‘N’ Deel (Maurice {Jpn}).

Steel Blaze is the fourth winner for the former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Real Steel.

The colt was initially offered by Arrowfield Stud at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Highway Sessions, where Blake Ryan Racing purchased him for $50,000 and later offered the colt at the 2022 Inglis Ready2Race Sale, where B M Lazzarini Racing paid $30,000.

Inhibitions chases down Oz Empress

It was another successful Saturday at the office for Godolphin. Tom Kitten (Harry Angel {Ire}) claimed the G3 Up And Coming, and moments later, the James Cummings-trained Inhibitions (Zoustar) defeated Oz Empress (Exceed And Excel) at Moonee Valley over 1200 metres.

Burn To Shine to tackle stakes class next

New Zealand-based trainer Stephen Marsh appears to have a progressive pair of gallopers on his hands after the stable provided the quinella in the Ardrossan 1200 at Te Rapa on Saturday.

The 3-year-old gelding Burn To Shine (NZ) (So You Think {NZ}) outmatched his stablemate Financier (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}) in the event.

Burn To Shine showed plenty of ability as a 2-year-old running third to Tokyo Tycoon (NZ) (Satono Aladdin {Jpn}) and Trobriand (Kermadec {NZ}).

Marsh indicated the son of So You Think (NZ) will return to stakes company with the G2 Hawke’s Bay Guineas on the immediate agenda.

Deny Knowledge runs them into the ground

Mick Kent’s smart mare Deny Knowledge (Ire) (Pride Of Dubai) returned imperiously on Saturday at The Valley.

The 5-year-old mare ridden by Wiremu Pinn showed her customary toe to find the lead, and from there, she never ceded, running out a 2l winner from French Emperor (Tavistock {NZ}) and King Magnus (Magnus) in third.

The Group 3-winning galloper is from the Manduro (Ger) mare The Paris Shrug (GB). She is a half-sister to Big Orange (GB) (Duke Of Marmalade {Ire}).

Bargain filly keeps fronting up

The Natalie McCall-trained Tiger Shark (Rich Enuff) is proving more and more of a bargain each time she hits the track. The 3-year-old filly was a $15,000 purchase by Paul Kingsford Bloodstock from the Springmount draft at the 2021 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale, and on Saturday at Doomben, Tiger Shark won her second race, bringing her earnings over $100,000. The daughter of Rich Enuff, ridden by Damien Thornton, won by 1.12l from Deep Respect (Deep Field), while Spin Doctor (Trapeze Artist) ran into third.

Stable confirms Memise tilt for TJ champ

Katherine Coleman, co-trainer of the exciting I Wish I Win (NZ) (Savabeel), confirmed the gelding will contest next Saturday’s G1 Memise S. with Luke Nolen taking the mount.

“Peter (Moody) wants three weeks between runs with The Everest his grand final day, and there just wasn’t an ideal race three weeks prior to that anywhere,” Coleman explained.

“So, I Wish I Win goes into the Memise, and then we might give him a jump-out or an exhibition gallop three weeks after that, and that gives us three weeks to The Everest.

“We want to time his runs and keep him happy. He’s shown us he’s versatile, and I Wish I Win can win over 1400 metres, and he can win over the sprint trips, so I don’t think the distance is the real concern here.”

Ryan is on a comeback trail

Robert and Luke Price are getting behind Brock Ryan as he continues his race-riding return. The Kembla Grange-based trainers supported Ryan on Saturday at their home track and are pledging their support to the young rider when he makes the trek to Nowra on Sunday. Ryan had been off the scene for four months after a shoulder reconstruction. He has not ridden in races since April but has been riding trackwork and trials in preparation for the weekend.

“Brock’s been great, back a few weeks riding work and trials for us. It’d be special if we could put him on winners for the confidence. Our best is at Nowra,” Luke enthused.

Indentured initially to them, Brock’s career highlights were winning at Group 2 level for the stable as an apprentice on Jamaea (Headwater) 2021.

“Brock’s on our best at Nowra - Candlelit and Slickman. More suitable races than Kembla with a drop in grade and drawn inside, always a big factor there,” Luke added.

“I’ve checked with Nowra; at this stage, it’s a Soft 5 that suits ours.”
