Eagle Farm: G1 Kingsford Smith Cup, $1,000,000, 1300m

Turning the tables on a gallant Bella Nipotina (Pride Of Dubai) having run second to her in the G1 Doomben 10,000, I Wish I Win (NZ) (Savabeel) was in the winner’s circle for the first time since his G1 T.J Smith S. success in April last year.

Taking his prize money tally to beyond $11.8 million, the horse so famously born with limbs askew was bred by Waikato Stud and is raced by the farm's Mark Chittick with Peter Moody. He is one of the 145 stakes winners for the farm's G1 WS Cox Plate winning stalwart - and one of his 33 Group 1 winners.

I Wish I Win is a half-brother to the G3 BRC Premier's Cup and Listed Gosford Gold Cup winning Group 1 placed Another Dollar (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}) out of the metropolitan placed two times winner Make A Wish (NZ) (Pins) whose dam Starcent (NZ) (Centaine) was twice successful at Group level.

Of Starcent's 12 foals to race, 11 were winners including the Group 1 placed Ambitious (NZ) (Last Tycoon {Ire}), dam of the G3 Gloaming S. winner Strike The Stars (NZ) (Savabeel) and grandam of Savabeel's G1 Livamol Classic winner Savy Yong Blonk (NZ) and his G2 Autumn Classic winner Adelaide Ace (NZ).

Missing upon a couple of return visits to Savabeel after producing I Wish I Win, Make A Wish sadly died a couple of years ago. Her penultimate foal Winning Wish (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}) died before racing with her last being a yet to be named Super Seth filly who was purchased by Snowden Racing and William Johnson Bloodstock for $260,000 at last year’s Magic Millions.

Bred on a 3 X 4 cross of Sir Tristram (Ire), I Wish I Win is one of the 22 Savabeel stakes winners (and seven Group 1 winners) line-bred to the champion Todman, noting that Savabeel's G3 Adrian Knox S. winning grandam Alma Mater (Semipalatinsk {USA}) is bred on a 4 X 4 cross of Todman's wonderful dam Oceana (Ire) (Colombo {GB}) with her second strain being Noholme II.

G1 Queensland Derby, $1,000,000, 2400m

10½ lengths is some winning margin, that recorded by Warmonger (NZ) (War Decree {USA}) who outclassed and outstayed his rivals with this dominant performance. Bred by Kevin Hickman, he made his way through the sales ring on two occasions - sold by Valachi Downs to Prima Park & Bevan Bloodstock for $75,000 at the 2022 Karaka Book 2 Sale and by Primar Park to S Kennedy for $165,000 at the 2022 Ready To Run. The first Group 1 winner (and one of his two stakes winners) for his Inglewood Stud based G2 Vintage S. winning sire, Warmonger is a half-brother to the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas placegetter Blue Solitaire (NZ) (Almanzor {Fr}).His two times winning dam Princess Sapphire (NZ) (Savabeel) sadly died young having produced only three foals, the other being a 2021 born U S Navy Flag (USA) filly called Princess Solitaire (NZ). A half-sister to the dual Listed winning sprinter Merion (NZ) (O'Reilly {NZ}), Princess Sapphire is out of the Listed Timaru Cup winner Sapphire Belle (NZ) (Danske {NZ}) from the family of the multiple Group 1 winner Alibhai (NZ).

G2 Sires' Produce S., $1,000,000, 1400m

Bringing his Sydney Group 1 form to Brisbane, Broadsiding (Too Darn Hot {GB}) was strong to the line winning his third race from just six starts. One of the eight stakes winners (and two Group 1 winners) for his exciting young Darley sire who is proving quite the international stallion - those stakes winners coming in six different countries! And he also sired this race’s third placegetter Superalloy.

Broadsiding is one of only two live foals produced by the two times winner Speedway (Street Cry {Ire}) who died young - her only other foal being the yet to race Tony Gollan trained 3-year-old No Brakes (Lonhro) who was unplaced in a Deagon trial in February.

A half-sister to the G1 1000 Guineas heroine Flit (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}), Speedway is out of the stakes placed Glissade (Redoute’s Choice) who has also produced the stakes placed multiple city winner Flow (Street Cry).

Too Darn Hot hails from the same family as his great, great grandsire Mr Prospector (USA) and is relishing further strains of that great stallion; Broadsiding boasting a 5 X 4 cross. All but two of his other stakes winners are line-bred to Mr Prospector with his other Group 1 winner Fallen Angel (GB) owning a particularly interesting pedigree - line-bred to Too Darn Hot's third dam Delsy (Fr) (Abdos {Fr}).

G3 Fred Best Classic, $300,000, 1400m

Listed Helen Coughlan S., $160,000, 1200m

Nine wins from 16 starts is an impressive record and it was a deserved (and easy) breakthrough at stakes level for the talented Chinny Boom (Spirit Of Boom). Part of a Listed quinella for her Eureka Stud based sire - Bezique second - Chinny Boom is that reliably classy stallion’s 27th stakes winner. A home-bred for M.J Pascoe who passed her in for $48,000 with a reserve of $50,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, Chinny Boom is one of the seven winners for the city placed winner Imanoremiss (Made Of Gold {USA}).

Also dam by Spirit Of Boom of the city winners Le Palmier and La Petite Maison, Imanoremiss was again served by him last spring having missed to him the previous season. Her 2-year-old Six More Songs (Encryption) - a $90,000 purchase at last year’s March sale for Gollan Racing and John Foote - was fourth at her Ipswich debut in February.

Imanoremiss is one of the eight winners (from as many runners) for the five times winner Day County (County) whose best is the dual Listed winner Magic Marvo (Bite The Bullet {USA}). Other durable stakes winners from this family include Mistador (Mister C {USA}) and Right Fong (Dr Fong {USA}). A descendant of the famed matriarch Chelandry (GB) (Goldfinch {GB}), Chinny Boom is the third Spirit Of Boom stakes winner line-bred to Showdown (GB) and the fifth line-bred to Noholme.
