Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Three exciting 3-year-old runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Tuesday. At Tatura a well-bred Street Boss (USA) colt is on debut and a promising I Am Invincible colt looks close to a win. At Newcastle a Cosmic Force colt with a strong form line looks ready to win his maiden.

Akuma, 3-year-old colt (Street Boss {USA} x Jesse’s Dream {Choisir})
The Flemington based-trainer Danny O’Brien saddles up Akuma (Street Boss {USA}) to make his debut over 1100 metres at Tatura on Tuesday.
This promising colt is the fifth live foal from the Choisir mare Jesse’s Dream who surprisingly was successful at 2000 metres given the speed presence throughout the pedigree.
Jesse’s Dream is a full sister to the very quick Eloping (Choisir), she was a seven-time winner at distances up to 1200 metres including the G3 Randwick S., G3 Champagne S., Listed Blue Sapphire S., Listed Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) and the Listed Silk Stocking H. She has then gone on to flourish as a broodmare leaving the outstanding In Secret (I Am Invincible) who was purchased by Godolphin for $900,000 as a yearling from the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale before James Cummings trained her to become a dual Group 1 winner.

There is even more depth to this family with Jesse’s Dream also being a full sister to the stakes-placed filly Jesse’s Girl (Choisir) and a three-quarter sister to Of The Brave (Starspangledbanner) who won twice as a juvenile and both at black-type level in the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude (Colts & Geldings) and the Listed Debutant S.
Jesse’s Dream since producing Akuma has left a 2-year-old colt by Hanseatic and is due to foal to Darley Stud’s exciting Paulele next month.
Akuma was purchased by Danny O’Brien Racing from the draft of Longwood Thoroughbred Farm for $120,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.

Pietro Road, 4-year-old horse (I Am Invincible x Oscietra {Exceed And Excel})
Pietro Road, a son of Australia’s Champion Stallion I Am Invincible, will be making his third start at Tatura for Flemington trainer’s Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes. He showed plenty of promise in his first start at Bendigo over 1100 metres where he was charging home strongly for sixth after getting well out of his ground early from an outside gate, then he backed that up with an excellent second at Seymour where again he attacked the line hard from well back in the field behind Exuma (Blue Point {Ire}).
The well-bred colt is the second foal from the Exceed and Excel mare Oscietra, who was a two-time winner at 1000 metres on the track.

She is very well-related being out of the Champion Black Caviar (Bel Esprit) who was the unbeaten winner of 25 races including 15 Group 1 races. Black Caviar is also a half-sister to All Too Hard who was the Champion 3YO Colt in Australia, he won seven times including the G1 All Aged S., G1 Caulfield Guineas, G1 CF Orr S., and the G1 Futurity S. She is also a full sister to the unraced Naturale who has left the dual Group 1-winning stallion Ole Kirk and the Group 3-winning Gimmie Par (Not A Single Doubt).
Other successful stakes winners within this pedigree are Hanseatic, Semillion (Shalaa {Ire}), Arctic Flight (Flying Spur), Scandiva (Fastnet Rock), Maximillius (Written Tycoon), Iconic (Bel Esprit), Wilander (Exceed and Excel), Krakarib (Ribchester {Ire}) Magnus and Scandinavia (Snippets).
Oscietra since producing Pietro Road has left a 3-year-old colt named Kings Commission (Churchill {Ire}), a yearling filly by Street Boss (USA) and is due to foal to Anamoe later this month.
Newcastle, Race 3, 2.25pm AEST, The Adviser Collective Mdn Plate, $42,000, 900m
Force Red, 3-year-old colt (Cosmic Force x Joseph’s Coat {Fastnet Rock})
It's a solid and strong form line for this Ciaron Maher-trained colt who at his first start ran fifth behind the talented colt Espionage (Zoustar) in the G3 Breeders’ Plate as a 2-year-old. He was only beaten by 1.2l and other talented subsequent stakes winners that featured in front of him in that race were Straight Charge (Written By) and Prost (Snitzel). Since having a break, he has trialled nicely for two runner-up placings at Warwick Farm in preparation for this race.

Force Red is bred for speed being by Cosmic Force and out of Joseph’s Coat (Fastnet Rock) who is a full sister to the Listed winner Saturn Rock (Fastnet Rock). Force Red’s grandam is Satin Robes (Ne Coupez Pas {USA}) and she was also a stakes-winning sprinter and was successful in the Listed Kensington S.
Joseph’s Coat since producing Force Red, has left a colt foal by Artorius earlier this month.
Force Red was purchased by Triple Crown Syndications from the draft of The Chase for $240,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.
Looking Back
Joy Of The World (Street Boss {USA}) was disappointing as a warm favourite running eighth.
Top Level (The Autumn Sun) ran an okay race for sixth on debut, she didn't have a lot of luck so could be a quick improver.
