Collingrove Stud returns for its sixth Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, with a portion of proceeds supporting Daniel Brash’s cancer battle. This year’s draft showcases top-quality yearlings with strong pedigrees and racing potential.
Special sale for Collingrove
Collingrove Stud is getting ready to embark on its sixth Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale one which has a different feel about it for the farm's well-liked Daniel Brash.
Daniel was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last October and has battled through three operations with his journey far from over with further treatments and possibly more surgeries to come.

“It has been extremely tough so far,” Daniel said, “and we deliberately cut down numbers knowing what lay ahead for me.”
“The staff here at the sales and back at the farm have been amazing and I can't thank them enough.”
Under Brash's expert care, a number of talented gallopers have been prepared for Inglis sales by Collingrove, such as Victor The Winner (Toronado {Ire}), Material Dreams (Lean Mean Machine), Electric Impulse (Cable Bay {Ire}), Grand Pierro (Pierro), Deekay (Hellbent), Bakeel (Sioux Nation {USA}), Naiconi (Nicconi) and Chartres (Toronado).
A percentage of Collingrove's sale commissions will be donated to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Lot 123 - Harry Angel x Dancingmiracle (So You Think {NZ}) (colt)
There are five stakes winners amongst the first 71 Australian winners for this fellow's sire whose son Tom Kitten went too close to defeating Mr Brightside (NZ) (Bullbars) in last weekend's G1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.
Adding strength to this colt's record is his dam sire So You Think whose daughters are doing such a good job at stud; one of his first runners as a broodmare sire is the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Fireburn (Rebel Dane) whilst Puchkine (Fr) (Starspangledbanner) won last year's G1 Prix Jean Prat.
Dancingmiracle is a half-sister to the city winners Seahampton (Sebring), Mysonharry (Myboycharlie {Ire}) and Beat Street (Street Sense {USA}) and her dam is a Danehill Dancer (Ire) daughter of the stakes winner Fidelio's Miracle (USA) (Mountain Cat {USA}).
This is a family that has enjoyed considerable local success with the likes of Snowland and Snippetson.
Lot 236 - Nicconi x Keep Courting (Keep The Faith) (colt)
By one of Victoria's most popular and reliably classy stallions, this dashing chestnut is the second foal for a good race mare who won five races including a sprinting contest at Sandown.
A half-sister to the stakes placed dual city winner Swinging Soldier (Soldier's Tale {USA}), Keep Courting is out of a Rory's Jester 3/4 sister to the very fast juvenile stakes winners Seidnazar and Real Jester.
Bred on the same Nicconi/Halo (USA) cross as the stakes winners Bossy Nic, Hear The Chant and Petula, this colt has plenty of speed in his pedigree with his dam sire Keep The Faith a track record-breaking sprinter/miler by the great Sunday Silence (USA).
Lot 395 - Saxon Warrior (Jpn) x Purrpussful (Purrealist) (colt)
His sire has quietly been getting his share of winners in this part of the world and this colt is a full brother to one of his promising sons in King Of Wessex; a winner and four times placed; his most recent run a close-up third at Caulfield.
Purrpussful was a good race mare winning five races and she is one of the seven winners produced by the two-time winner Newstar Lass (Royal Academy {USA}) whose son American Joy (Americain {USA}) and El Venetian (Moshe) are both stakes performers.
Newstar Lass is a half-sister to the G1 VRC Oaks winner Arapaho Miss (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) who is doing just as well at stud as she did on the track, producing another VRC Oaks winner in Miami Bound (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}) as well as the Listed winner De Little Engine (Encosta de Lago).
This family also produced last spring's G2 Moonee Valley Vase winner Red Aces (Dundeel {NZ}) and this colt is line-bred to his Group 3 winning fifth dam Lady Rebecca (GB) (Sir Ivor {USA}), also ancestress of Pride Of Jenni (Pride Of Dubai).
Lot 409 - Hellbent x Relaunch (Statue Of Liberty {USA}) (filly)
Her sire continues to do a particularly good job with his daughters and like his star sire, he is picking up well on strains of I Am Invincible's influential ancestress Chelandry (GB) (Goldfinch {GB}).
And Relaunch has such a pedigree, making her a nice match for Hellbent. The proof is in the pudding here with this striking dark bay bound to attract the attention of bidders.
Her city placed three-time winning dam is doing an excellent job with her first three foals all being winners including the Moonee Valley and Rosehill winner Peace Treaty (National Defense {GB}).
Relaunch is a half-sister to the dual Listed winner Cavaloce (Testa Rossa) out of a half-sister to the G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Reactive (Geiger Counter {USA}) from a prolific black-type family.
Lot 410 - Exceedance x Resource (Tale Of The Cat {USA}) (colt)
An eye-catcher by an up-and-coming young stallion, this rich bay colt is the third living foal for a mare whose first two races are both showing talent; the three-time winner Volpe Risorsa (Foxwedge), a $160,000 yearling and the lightly raced three-year-old Bon Fete (Hellbent), a $130,000 Melbourne Premier graduate who went close to breaking her maiden at Sale this week.
A $310,000 Easter yearling, Resource is out of the G2 Sandown Classic winner Legible (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) whose son Trusting (also by Tale Of The Cat) won three races at Group 2 level, filling the placings in Group 1 company on five occasions.
Legible is the daughter of another classy race mare in Waihora's Lass (NZ) (Tights {USA}) who earned the title of New Zealand Champion Older Female Sprinter with her 11 wins.
Lot 519 - Harry Angel (Ire) x Tavivalley (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}) (filly)
This filly with her striking dark coat is by one of Darley's quiet achievers out of a well-related mare whose Group 3 winning dam Leigh Valley (NZ) (Bianconi {USA}) has been nicely represented by four winners.
Amongst that tally is the G1 Herbie Dyke Stakes winner Valley Girl (NZ) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) who was a game second to Single Gaze (Not A Single Doubt) in the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes.
This has been a Group 1 family for generations, its other members including the G1 Queensland Oaks winner Round The World (NZ) (Sea Anchor {Ire}) and the G1 Australasian Oaks winner Royal Regatta (NZ) (Sea Anchor).
Lot 538 - Rich Enuff x True Temptation (Bel Esprit) (colt)
A strongly built colt with a real look of his sire, he is bred on a proven cross with nine of the ten Rich Enuff runners out of Bel Esprit mares being winners including the Group 3 filly Rich Fortune.
This is also the Written Tycoon/Bel Esprit cross which produced Ole Kirk with crosses of the speed influences Vain and Bletchingly sure to interest buyers.
His dam is a full sister to the multiple city winner True Persuasion who was competitive with the best sprinters of her time, second in the G1 Australian Stakes to Hay List (Statue Of Liberty {USA}) and third behind Black Caviar (Bel Esprit) in the G2 Moir Stakes.
This prolific Victorian family has produced the stakes winners Sister Shirley (Kaoru Star) (True Temptation's third dam), Vanquished (Hector Protector {USA}), Aurealis, Zasu (Kaoru Star), Potential Star (Kampala {GB}) and Marceau.
Lot 577 - Russian Camelot (Ire) x Annadeel (Dundeel {NZ}) (colt)
There has been plenty of chatter amongst trainers and breeders in regard to the promise being shown by the members of the debut crop of this colt's dual Group 1 winning sire.
And this fellow is a particularly nice representative of the breed, a handsome and flashy deep bay; the first foal for a daughter of the Listed Epona Stakes winner Great Anna (Anabaa {USA}).
Also dam of the stakes placed Angelus (Lonhro), Great Anna is out of the G2 Herbert Power Stakes winner Great Vintage (NZ) (Sir Tristram {Ire}) who showed her class with a G1 Melbourne Cup fourth behind Vintage Crop (Ire) (Rousillon {USA}).
The four-time Group 1 winner Riverina Charm (NZ) (Sir Tristram) also hails from this family, one which has also been represented by two high-class stallions in Showdown (GB) and Red Ransom (USA).
This is a lovely Classic pedigree, this colt boasting crosses of the 3/4 brothers Sadler's Wells (USA) and Nureyev (USA).
Lot 596 - Shalaa (Ire) x Brooklet (Hinchinbrook) (filly)
Bred on the same Shalaa/Fastnet Rock cross as the Hong Kong-based Group 3 winner Whizz Kid, she is out of a mare whose grandam Wrap Around (Bletchingly) was a high-class sprinter.
The winner of nine of her 28 starts including the G1 William Reid Stakes, Wrap Around has proven to be an excellent matriarch with her daughters and granddaughters producing the Australian Champion 2Y0 Filly Fashions Afield (Redoute's Choice) as well as the stakes winners Runway Star (Northern Meteor), What You Need (Supido), Fashion Legend (Deep Field) and Kiss And Make Up.
Wrap Around's four-time Group winning half-sister Rose Of Danehill (Danehill {USA}) also fared well at stud as the dam of the Group winners Kazanluk (Red Ransom {USA}) and Nozomi (Street Cry {Ire}).
Also amongst this filly's relations are the Group 1 galloper Lucky Sweynesse (NZ) (Sweynesse) and Ambulance (Grand Lodge {USA}).
Lot 597 - Doubtland x Bulahdelah Miss (NZ) (Cape Blanco {Ire}) (filly)
The dual-Group-winning Not A Single Doubt stallion Doubtland has made a most encouraging start to his stud career with three promising winners amongst his first four runners and his Melbourne Premier yearlings are bound to prove popular.
This filly, who hails from the same great Frizette (USA) (Hamburg {USA}) family as Mr Prospector (USA) and who is line-bred to that stallion, is the second foal for a daughter of the two time Group placed Written Tycoon mare Prestigious Miss.
Her first foal Power Of Two (Zousain) sold to Hong Kong for $200,000 and is a member of the Tony Cruz stable whilst her second also by Zousain fetched $70,000 at this sale last year.
Prestigious Miss is a half-sister to Group 3 and dual Listed winner Cassini (Reset) out of a daughter of the G1 Western Australian Oaks heroine True Devotion (Beau Sovereign {NZ}).
A particularly strong filly, she boasts a cross of Best In Show (USA) (Traffic Judge {USA}) via Redoute's Choice and Try My Best (USA), noting that those two stallions have combined in the pedigrees in 19 Group 1 winners.
Lot 714 - Magna Grecia (Ire) x Parthesia (NZ) (Raise The Flag {GB}) (colt)
By a Classic winning son of Invincible Spirit (Ire) from a family of quality stayers, this flashy bay is out of the good race mare Parthesia, winner of the Listed Bagot Handicap and the Listed Tasmanian Oaks.
Also second in the G3 SA Fillies Classic (Oaks) and the Listed VRC St Leger, she is out of a 3/4 sister to the four-time Group winner Blood Brotha (NZ) (Danzighill) and half-sister to the Group 3 winners King Johny (NZ) (Seasoned Star) and De Montfort (NZ) (Random Chance {NZ}) and the latter is dam of the G1 Auckland Cup winner Roger That (NZ) (Shinko King {Ire}).
This is the same great New Zealand family as the big race winners Princess Mellay (NZ) (Mellay {GB}), Parthesia's dual Group 1 winning third dam and Prince Majestic (NZ) (Noble Bijou {USA}).
