Nichols updated The Thoroughbred Report on plans for his stable's potential stars, and also offered insight into the next generation, including four newly turned 2-year-olds, who could be ones to watch out for later this season.

3-year-olds

Esha, 3-year-old filly (Extreme Choice x I Am A Star (NZ) {I Am Invincible})

“They softened her up with the really quick speed in the Moir up front, she actually got galloped on by Skybird on her hind pastern, she was tender for a few days but that wound has healed.”

“She heads to the G3 Scarborough Stakes over 1200 metres at the Valley on the 26th, it looks ideal for her, her own age and own sex at set weights.

“She is unproven at 1200 metres and she is only a little filly, and that has to be the query. But if she runs it out and settles, she is sure to be pretty competitive in a race like that.”

Brash Lass, 3-year-old filly (Brazen Beau x Zarpoya {Sepoy})

“She won her maiden in really nice style, that was our first winner for the partnership between myself and Hayden Black. She is a soft track filly and needs that to be near her best.

She may go to a Benchmark race at Mornington on Thursday, she has a really fast pedigree and is a really good type.”

Torsheen, 3-year-old filly (Toronado (Ire) x Demasheen {Fastnet Rock})

“She is another one that won her maiden really well, she beat the second horse by a neck, but there was eight lengths back to third and the second horse has come out and won.

“She has since ran a very good second at Sandown, she will head towards the Listed Jim Moloney or the Guineas Prelude.

“She is quite a promising Toronado filly, we like a lot.”

Bradford, 3-year-old colt (Written Tycoon x Kamuniak (NZ) {Black Minnaloushe {USA}})

“He is a really nice horse, he is a Written Tycoon half brother to Streets Of Avalon.

“He ran second in a hot race at Sale. He has had a couple of minor hiccups, but I think he is a Saturday metro quality horse at least if not stakes class. He is a nice horse.”

Fenestella, 3-year-old filly (Brazen Beau x Mashrabiya {Teofilo {Ire}})

“She has run well but is still a maiden, but she has talent.

“She trialled well last week, and she will head towards the Oaks Prelude on Sunday the 21st. That will be her next assignment.”

Older horses

Always Enuff, 4-year-old mare (Capitalist x Enuff Effort {Reward For Effort})

“She ran a Saturday race and then struck a really wet track at Adelaide and failed, she had probably had enough at the end of that prep, so she has had a little freshen, she will be ready late in the Spring or around Christmas time.”
