Manny Gelagotis updated The Thoroughbred Report on the stable’s spring prospects, noting many of his young horses are newly turned 3-year-olds expected to feature this spring, with confidence they’ll be even stronger in the autumn and beyond.

“When we were based at Moe we had a lot of quality horses, we have made the change in direction to base now at Pakenham with more of a commercial base, and we have some really nice horses for some really good clients,” Gelagotis said.

“For a small stable, we are building up nicely, and the strength in the stable does sit with the just turned 3-year-olds, who I think can turn into a pretty powerful team as we head into the autumn. It is exciting with the young horses coming through.”

3-year-olds

Recuperato, 3-year-old filly (Farnan x Afiado {Encosta De Lago})

“She is back in work now. We had a little bit of a hiccup with her, but she will probably run over the carnival.”

“As a 3-year-old filly she has lots of options, she has already been an impressive winner down the straight, her sire Farnan is going well, and she may even get over a bit further. She should make a lovely 3-year-old filly.”

Wetumpka, 3-year-old colt (Alabama Express x Casino Club {Casino Prince})

“He is a high level colt, we have decided to put him out and we can't wait for the autumn with him, he really looks an Australian Guineas type horse.

“He really can gallop and will only get better with a bit more time.”

Bajaria, 3-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Oregon's Day {Domesday})

“We have a very good opinion of this filly, she is likely to trial next week and we will look for a maiden for her around October. We think she is a carnival horse for sure, so she may get there.

“But bring on the autumn with her, we can't wait.”

Caelius, 3-year-old colt (Pierro x Salina {Redoute's Choice})

“Nice Pierro colt that could develop into a Guineas/Derby type of horse.

“He will trial soon, nice horse, he has got scope.”

Sorcerer Lass, 3-year-old filly (Maurice (Jpn) x National Velvet {Commands})

“I have got a bit of time for this filly, she is a quality Maurice filly that we paid a bit of money for. She is a half sister to Fortune Teller, who won the Carbine Stakes, and I think she could develop nicely.”

Unnamed, 3-year-old colt (I Am Invincible x Savanna Amour {Love Conquers All})

“He has been poking along nicely, come the autumn he could be a really nice horse and something to look forward to.”

Older horses

House Of Lords, 5-year-old mare (Almanzor (Fr) x Shez Sinsational (NZ) {Ekraar {USA}})

“She is a well-bred mare being out of Shez Sinsational. She is a really nice rangy, scopey kind of mare that looks an ideal 2000 metre plus horse.

“She may even be six to twelve months away from being at her best, but she will poke through the grades and there looks a nice race for her on Melbourne Cup day over 2000 metres. You never know if she really did take off we may look at a race like the Matriarch, but we will give her all the time she needs, she is a very nice staying mare.”

Fiery Deal, 4-year-old mare (Dundeel (NZ) x Fiery Jest {Testa Rossa})

“She is a lovely Dundeel mare, she was impressive on debut and probably was in the wrong part of the track second-up. She has had a break and has come back well.”

Captain Hilfiger (NZ), 4-year-old gelding (Proisir x Royal Era (NZ) {Zabeel {NZ}})

“He won nicely last week, he is a very nice staying type of horse that we got reasonably cheaply from Karaka, he will work through the grades.”

Secret Elegance, 4-year-old mare (Snitzel x Eloping {Choisir})

“She was strategically purchased and is a very well-bred filly being a sister to In Secret. We have had a bit of success with buying these type of fillies like Miss Roseiano.

“She is a mare that will have another campaign and win, lose or draw at some stage she will head to the breeding barn, all her siblings are going good and we think she has a big future on and off the track.

Thunder Zeus, 4-year-old gelding (Night Of Thunder (Ire) x Trapani (GB) {Shamardal {USA}})

“He's a lovely Night Of Thunder gelding, a real staying type with a good pedigree. I think he has a strong staying future.”

Ginger Sweet, 5-year-old mare (Tavistock {NZ}) x Winter Sweet {Fastnet Rock})

“She is a nice, honest, staying type of mare, who will work through the grades.”

2-year-olds

Unnamed, 2-year-old filly (Farnan x French Boss {Street Boss {USA}})

She was originally purchased by Leicester Bloodstock for $25,000 from the 2024 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale from the Erinvale Thoroughbreds draft. She was then purchased for the Inglis April (Early) Online Sale for $22,500 by D Younan.

“She has been broken in, and been in and out a bit, she gallops really well and we really like her.”

Unnamed, 2-year-old filly (Levendi x Rock The Lady (NZ) {Roc De Cambes {NZ}})

“This filly is going super well. It's quite exciting to have some Levendis in the stable as he obviously means a lot to us.

“I like this filly and think she has a future.”
