There’s one name that screams loudest in the commercial market and it is Extreme Choice. His yearlings averaged over $1.5 million at this week’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, and now breeders have a chance to own a share in the exciting stallion. He might be sub-fertile but he’s also only a 12-year-old with many years ahead of him in the breeding shed.

“We were very excited to have Extreme Choice so well represented with quality yearlings at Easter and the demand for his stock surpassed even our expectations. He’s become a commercial phenomenon and any exposure to his stock is good exposure,” said Inglis CEO Sebastian Hutch.

Dual Group 1 winner Extreme Choice has sired six Group 1 winners from his first 204 runners, and is the first stallion since Sir Tristram (Ire) to sire the winners of the G1 Melbourne Cup, G1 Golden Slipper, and G1 Blue Diamond. And he achieved the feat at a much earlier point in his career. He has 18 individual stakes winners, although this is ever-growing with G2 Todman Stakes winner Paradoxium to run for him in Saturday’s G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes.

The share goes through the auction ring as Lot 104 – saving the best until last perhaps – but before that, buyers can have a crack at Lot 79. Winner of the Listed Debutant Stakes, Kiki Express (Sepoy) is in foal to Extreme Choice.

Ten year anniversary and ready to celebrate

“The Inglis Chairman’s Sale is the most fun sale of the year, anywhere in the world and it provides an unparalleled experience for both vendors and buyers,” Hutch said.

“This is the tenth year of The Chairman’s Sale and the style of the evening has created an unrivalled atmosphere deserving of an annual celebration of some of the most desirable race fillies and mares in the world each year.”

Of the 103 race fillies and mares on offer, 95 are 10-year-olds or younger. The catalogue includes 67 mares who are either stakes performed or stakes producing, and 24 mares are Danehill (USA) free.

Lot 35 is the G1 Goodwood Handicap winner Benedetta (Hellbent) who was announced for this sale a few weeks ago.

Provence (NZ) (Proisir), who clocked up a treble of Group 1 victories, is profiled here. She is Lot 100.

The other Group 1 winning mare in the sale is Lot 99, G1 Australasian Oaks winner Princess Jenni (High Chaparral {Ire}) in foal to Pride Of Dubai. Her first foal King Snitz (Snitzel) is an unraced 2-year-old colt, while she has a Wootton Bassett (GB) filly foal.

Group 3 winner and $1.5 million earner Arabian Summer (Too Darn Hot {GB}) headlines the race fillies as Lot 32, and $1.2 million earner and Group 2 winning sprinter Generosity (Divine Prophet) will walk through the ring as Lot 60.

But it’s not just these headline acts for breeders to pour over.

The Golden Slipper of 2026

The G1 Golden Slipper of 2026’s quinella is represented by the dams of the first two home in the big juvenile race.

The dam of G1 Golden Slipper winner Guest House (Home Affairs), Flamboyant Lass (Stratum), is Lot 58 and is in foal to Storm Boy. Guest House was purchased by Coolmore after his Slipper victory for a reported $30 million.

The dam of G1 Blue Diamond victrix Streisand (Magnus), and G1 Golden Slipper-second, is Lot 25 Zouper Star (Zoustar). She is currently empty, ready for an early season cover to the sire of the purchaser’s choice.

“In the first year, amongst the 61 fillies and mares offered, acting on behalf of Torryburn Stud, Belmont Bloodstock purchased Miss Interiors for $625,000 and she would go on to become the dam of G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Home Affairs, now a G1 Golden Slipper-winning sire with his first crop,” said Hutch.

Five mares in the sale are offered in foal to Home Affairs including Lot 91, the Snitzel mare Moldova whose first foal is G1 NZ 1000 Guineas winner Captured By Love (Written Tycoon).

Impressive decade of graduates

Being able to boast having sold the dams of G1 Golden Slipper winners Stay Inside and Shinzo – both sold in utero here – over the past decade should be reason enough to smile, but throw in exciting young sire Home Affairs, and this season’s Group 1 winner Caballus (I Am Invincible) and Apocalyptic (Extreme Choice) and the graduates are proving to be current and in the news.

“The sale has been generating results of major significance, in terms of both the local and international bloodstock market, ever since,” said Hutch.

“G1 Golden Slipper-winning colts, Stay Inside and Shinzo, were sold in utero at the sale while other mares offered at Chairman’s include the dams of subsequent G1 winners Autumn Glow, Imperatriz, Home Affairs, Apocalyptic, Caballus, She’s Extreme and international star In Italian amongst others.

“I have no doubt that in months and years to come, we’ll be talking about the 2026 Chairman’s Sale and the unbelievable results that breeders were able to achieve from being active participants in the auction.”
