Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
A couple well-bred types by Snitzel and Capitalist chase success at Scone on Saturday.
Scone, Race 1, 12.30pm AEST, Mach Energy Country Boosted 3YO + Maiden Plate, $30,000, 900m
Flirtation, 3-year-old filly (Snitzel x Secluded {Hussonet {USA}})
The beautifully-bred Flirtation (Snitzel) makes her second start at Scone on Sunday for trainers Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich and jockey Aaron Bullock.
She ran an eye-catching second on debut behind Copperline (Sebring Sun), and looks very hard to beat in this race in the hands of Aaron Bullock.

Flirtation is out of the three-time winner Secluded (Hussonet {USA}), she has been a solid broodmare leaving three winners from three to race including the dual Group 3 winning sire Pariah.
Secluded is also well-bred being a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Melito and the Listed-placed Across The Moon (Stratum).
Secluded, in recent times, has unfortunately not produced a live-foal since leaving Flirtation, but she was served by The Autumn Sun last spring.
Scone, Race 2, 1.10pm AEST, Greg Cribb Memorial Red Crown 2YO Handicap, $30,000, 900m
The Breakers, 2-year-old gelding (Capitalist x Sequitur {So You Think {NZ}})
The Peter Snowden-trained The Breakers (Capitalist) chases maiden success at start number two at Scone on Sunday. The promising gelding ran a solid third at Newcastle earlier in the month behind the promising Alphard (Street Boss {USA}).

Sequitur is a full-sister to the G1 Randwick Guineas winner Inference and the dual Listed winner Illation (So You Think {NZ}) and is a half-sister to the three-time Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Dragon Leap (Fastnet Rock). She is also a half-sister to the dam of Jacquinot, the dual Group 1 winner and Widden Stud stallion.
The Breakers was purchased by Snowden Racing for $250,000 from the Riversdale Farm draft at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
